| Every time I turn my computer on I get the following message:
Checking file system on C (The Hard Disk):
One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You can cancel this by pressing any key, but it strongly recommended.
This message appears before I log in and it is driving me mad!!
I am using Window 2000.
Any idea how can I get ride of this problem, which it has been for few months now?
Many Thanks

| Do you ever let it complete the test?
If not do so then it should go away.
nb: always make sure you shut the PC down properly, rather than just switch it off.

| Do you have service pack 4 installed? Have read that a lot of people are having the same problem.

Article applies to NT & 2000
Although, if you haven't let it run through once (as Enforcer suggested), you may want to do that. If it turns out that disabling the auto check isn't necessary, you probably shouldn't do it.

| After trying few solutions to get ride of the above error message, I had to disable chkdsk utility, which is run from a command prompt as follows:
chkntfs /x c: This disables chkdsk from running on drive C
This solves the problem for now.
Thanks to WPFossil, exit12 and enforcer
