Just saw the movie. It was worth the $5 & 2 hrs. driving. Definately good political satire. Michael indulged himself in preaching from time to time, but otherwise kept the focus on real people.

I appreciated how he drew out the point that the majority of the soldiers fighting in Iraq (& dying)are not rich & are disproportinately minorities...definately NOT senators' kids.

I had been engaged to a Kuwaiti born East Indian guy so he taught me a lot about middle Eastern politics. Michael Moore showed me the American side as well. Michael tried to make the point that Saudis have 7% of their wealth here which influenced George Bush. However, the same thing could be said about the Japanese or even Europeans. It's not a deciding factor. He also made the point that the Bin Laden family was well entrenched in U.S. politics & the Bush family which was valid.

One thing Michael didn't emphasize enough: how the U.S. created Saddam Hussein. He stayed in power BECAUSE our gov't kept him there. He was a puppet dictator.

Finally, I agreed with Michael regarding the Patriot Act. My favorite moment was when he went down the street in an ice cream truck reading the Patriot Act over the loudspeaker because he was told that senators don't have time to read all bills put before them.

I could go on, but too long already....

I saw it this weekend and I agree, although not enough was said regarding Sadam and the fact they were the ones who put him there in the first place.

It really is an eye opener to see just how many of Bush's friends are in high political power.

The timer on him after he heard the news of the attack is a killer, anyone else would have reacted.

Shame really.

And no weapons of mass destruction either, that is a crying shame.

Yeah, he doesn't quite know how to act sometimes. Although Michael Moore stated it was because no one was there to tell him what to do, I personally believe it's more that Bush is terrible at working the press. I'm certain Clinton would've taken about 10 minutes to respond, but would've made it look dignified. He might've called over an aide & talked over the weather, but would've made us believe he was doing something. Clinton & Reagan both had a gift on "looking" presidential no matter what the circumstances. Bush & his father don't.

As for the weapons of mass destruction (& the soldier scenes), it's a shame. I do apologize for the way my fellow Americans behave sometimes. If you've ever found us offensive, I apologize in advance. We do tend to act like a bunch of yah-hoos sometimes. (Hopefully, you can understand they were a bunch of scared kids who had never seen gruesome deaths before. I myself, was thrown for a loop by the beheading scene. We're pretty protected here.)

One final note before I let this thread die...

If in any way I or other Americans on this forum or otherwise have justified this point of view I hope you'll accept my apologies.

I feel very sad about how we're perceived. It's never my intention to come across as one to tell you how to live or behave or how to run your country. I do grasp the concept that different cultural mores does not = evil or wrong & want to accept differences. Hell, that's the way I have to live every day as there are so many different cultures in my family alone!

Oh man, I need to get studying for exams..
