| I have several .avi files I'm trying to put on a DVD, and have them converted so they can play in my home dvd player. Does anyone know of an application that will help me accomplish this? | |

| Don't think he's talking about backing up DVD's, Deja.
Nero 6 will put your porn collection ... er... small avi files... onto your DVD player.
Because of compression issues, you can only fit around 400 meg of avi/mpeg files onto a 700 meg CDR in VCD format. Won't fit a whole movie on a CDR, but it's enough for a good collection of music videos, though.

AVI's cannot directly be put on a DVD-Video disc, however they can be put on a regular DVD (for computer use.) They must first me converted to MPEG.
A good place to look for help is:

| No, I didn't mean recordable DVDs, Ruscorp.
I was referring to recording to cheap old CDRs, for those of us too poor to have DVD writers. I assume that's what he means.
I've had great success burning avi & mpeg music videos to cheap old CDR. Nero 6 has the option of burning video files as VCD or SVCD. My DVD player is too cheap to support Super VCD, but VCD works fine.

Disclaimer: That's not a screenshot from my PC. It's from Google Image Search. I wouldn't waste a perfectly good CDR on Michael Jackson.

Ah, VCD. I used them before. I find a lot of DVD players have trouble with them.
