| System resources get low for what I see is no apparent reason. I close all programs, and check the Task Manager to close all those except System and Explorer. I still get low system resources(as low as 6%).I can fix by restarting, but I would like to know where to find these hidden running programs, I can't find, and what they are? | |

| Have you done a spyware check? Might also want to scan for trojans. | |

| All clean and virus free. | |
|
| Each app is responsible for releasing its resources when it terminates, so probably something you open and close frequently. Might only be a 1% loss each time, but after opening and closing it fifty times starts to add up. | |

| Still this shouldn't cause it to run in the single digit figure, after running for a day or so. This is a home computer, running 98SE, and its never had this problem before. It does clean right up after rebooting and the average resources used is always been above 70%. Which is why I am trying to figure how to find what's causing the loss of resources. | |

| Did you look in the registry to see what's in
HKLM\software\microsoft\window
s\currentversion\run | |

| I am not too sure about the Registry. Under the Run, there aren't too many things running, what should be running, whats in config startup. But under the Run-, there are many things, like what could be running. Is this correct? | |

| get a copy of MSCONFIG (if it's not already installed) and run that. It will tell you what you are running a startup. then google every thing to find what it is. | |

| You stated that you checked for spyware, with which program? Try using HIJACK THIS. It will find all scripts and spyware including whats hidden in your registry. These can really tie up your resources and they will seem to clear up when you reboot because the connection to the net is broken when you reboot, as soon as the connection is re-established does it slow down again? Hope this helps. | |

| I checked with Spybot and Adware, I have Hijack This but don't delete what I don't understand, and I don't comprehend Hijack This fully to delete the entries. If you can help a bit about Hijack This, I would appreciate it tremendously. | |

| Do a google search on each entry hijackthis finds.
look for results that come from this website

| I ran HiJack This while resources were low, and again after reboot and system resources were in the 80%, and the results were the same. It must be something else tying up my system resources. I can't find what or where. |
