| A technician at our company recently (about 2 months ago) updated my W2k service pack. Since that time I have gotten all those wormy counterfeit emails about Windows Critical Upgrades, with an executable file attached. Also at the time of the legitimate upgrade a I found a windows installer that alerts me to new updates being ready to install. Never there before.
This is an icon in my systray with the Microsoft logo.
The question is this: Have any of you heard anything about vulnerabilities in using this method of updates, or is this a vulnerability in and of itself.
The tech did not specifically tell me that this was now available to me, but it showed up immediately after he left my office.

| W2K SP4 installs an automatic update utility. It will automatically download new updates and put a little world icon in your taskbar.
You should see an Automatic Updates icon in Control Panel.
XP comes with the automatic updates feature also.
Hope that helps. | |

If you go to start-->settings-->control panel then click on the Automatic Updates icon you can view/change the settings for your automatic updates.

Yes it does--So to the best of your knowledge, you haven't heard of anyone hacking it yet? |
