| I'm paying 49 U.S. dollars a month for my DSL connection. | |
| me? I dunno... 2004-06-08, 8:21 pm |
| $82.50 per/mo bundled with about 50 channels
800kb on a good day | |
| ruscorp 2004-06-08, 8:29 pm |
| Had Speakeasy DSL via COVAD @ 49.95/month, after taxes it's more like $57
now I have
Earthlink Cable via TWC @ $41/month.
Death to telcom taxes. | |
| azimuth40 2004-06-09, 2:04 am |
| $29.95 per month 1.5Mb down 256Kb up. Price was #39.95 a year ago but competition with cable I assume dropped it. MSN is thrown in; supposedly worth 9.95 but I have never installed or used it.
Oh I forgot it is Verizon used to be General Telephone (GTE)

| I have all my communications with one company and got a better deal all the way around on everything. The breakout on the DSL is about $35/month.
I'm not sure about how fast it is up or down, my computer is so old it probably doesn't matter; but the service has no limits on usetime. It's bellsouth.
I just hope I can keep it when we move out to the Ponderosa!
| forbesl 2004-06-09, 12:52 pm |
| I've got bellsouth, too. When they sent me my DSL modem, I also received a free comb and some hairspray for my mullet, a can of skoal, a warm can of PBR, and a white satin hood for my KKK uniform!

Yea most people on the west coast think Verizon is just fine while people on the east coast think they suck. I think it might have something to do with their equipment out here is probably newer. I have never had a reason to complain about their service. It went down once for a day and a half in the last three years. I think it had something to do with our frequent forest fire problem out here.
I had a billing problem once where they were only charging my phone bill $2.99 and not $29.99. The phone and DSL are separate groups. The phone group said they were paid and the DSL group said they were not. I spent about three hours getting that straightened out.

When are you going to move into the 21st century. They already have a can cooler that plugs into a USB port. Uses a peltier chip.
Actually I think they ripped this poor guy off that did some early work.

I don't know about Verizon (ex GTE) however Verizon (ex Bell Atlantic) is the absolute sorriest excuse of an ILEC I've ever seen. Their service is so pricey and filled with holes. You should have a chat with my friend the Verizon tech. He’ll tell you what he does in “the field” all day.

| I have my cable and internet bundled together for $74/mo.
I remember in the early 90's when AOL charged by the minute. I was paying on average $75/mo for dial up!!

Ah that's nothing. Back in the days of AOL $2.95/hr. I got a bill for $290.

| I live in Las Vegas, use Cox Cable my Internet connection, 1.5Mbps costs me 39.95 per month plus 10.00 per month cable tv fee. Not too bad of a price as far as I can see. For another 10 bucks you can upgrade to 3 Mbps connection speed. | |

Stop letting Cox donkey rape you for not having CATV service. Get DSL or fixed wireless. In Vegas I believe Sprint is the ILEC so try out FastConnect. Vegas also has a handful of fixed wireless providers.

| Up here in the north, I pay 74.00 canadian, about 55 USD for dsl and digital cable. It's pretty fast, over 5MB download speed. | |

| I heard that some entrepreneur is testing highspeed wireless access in Jacksonville, Fl for anyone to use, with higher volume users, this guy reckons it will drop the price to what most people pay these days for Dial up. If it works out they are going to introduce it to other cities. | |

What ugly choices. We have Comcast with their invisble caps and Verizon who wouldn't know DSL if it hit them over the head.

| Verizon is pretty decent DSL service itself. Its their tech support or lack there of
though it is rare that they need to be dealt with.

Verizon provides such god awful service and support. What's with the 768/128 I qualify for @ 9600ft from the CO? Speakeasy/COVAD gave me 1.5/256 at that same distance.
Verizon lags behind all the other ILEC's in the quest for DSL.

| I am in Cincinnati Ohio.
The going rate for high speed connections alone is aroung $49.00. The local phone company has a combination deal. I get my land line, cell phone (300minutes), DSL, and long distance (300 minutes) for $99.00.

| I'm living in Louisiana and paying $49.95/month for cable I wish I could get DSL for what I'm paying now. I'm leaving Cox Communications if something better comes to this area. | |

Call Bellsouth for their "FastAccess" service. Your CO must be DSL ready and be within 15,000ft of your house.

| Paying $26.95 for SBC DSL w/1 year commitment. Downloads not bad... normally over 1MB. That would be in Kansas, USA. | |

| I live in Iowa and have Mediacom. I pay $49 a month for broadband cable, 78 basic tv channels, about 125 special interest digital channels, 13 movie digital channels, 20 PPV option channels, about 25 digital music channels, 6 local access channels, 1 digital converter cable box, 2 remotes, and one cable modem.
For $49 a month, if Mediacom is available in your area, run. Get it now. It's great.
|
| Optonline cable for $50/mo. I get roughly 8Mbits/sec downstream but only 128 up | |
| capprentice248 2004-06-14, 3:46 pm |
| SBC in michigan pay 29.99 768\256 | |
|
| 55 euro for 512/128 8gig download cap per month
55euro = $66 or £36 | |
|
| Does anyone else have optonline? I am curious what others get with that service. I get amazing speeds with it. | |

Cablevision only services a small portion of people in the NY/NJ/CT area so you are not going to find a lot of people.
The speed as far as I know is 10000/512.
|
| In Malaysia, you have only one choice: Telekom's StreamyX ADSL. At (approx) USD$25/month for 512kbps down/256k up, it's pretty cheap... IF you can get it (limited service) and don't mind the constant outages and the worst customer service in the world. | |

| Admit it HOOLIGAN this is just a cheap attempt at finding out where we all live, so you can come round and nick our washing of the line.
Oh crap, he already knows where I live!!!
Anyway I'm still using pedal power dial up.
But I am signing up to become a dealer/installer for this.

| I am in Hawai'i and we get HSD access for about $30-40 here. The speed is between 1-2Mb. The customer service sucks though. Typical I guess. I used to do tech support for Cox HSD cable modems and I know that most of the people I worked with just wanted to get off the phone. | |
