Got one at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
|
|
| I finally got myself a job after three months of unemployment.
A very good 2nd line support role on a wholly Cisco network for a FOREX client of the company I will be working for.
Contract, and shift work; but it means food on the table once again.
Starting on Monday of next week - at Stockley Park, Uxbridge for those who know that area. Can't wait
Hippo - time to sign off the dole.

| Wonderful! See, that didn't take long.
I know, it was forever. I'm still trying to get in to see the boss to ask permission for a research project on our system security, just to prove to him I know some stuff.
I didn't get nearly insulted enough when I was told "we're not a trianing company." That should have told me that they considered my certification to be sort of like being accepted into a school but not having finished it. these aren't people who have been jaded by paper certs, these are CPA's who feel that their certificate is the only one that says they know what they say they know.
I've even proven several times that I know what I say I know. But becasue I don't get to actually do the fix, IT has to do it because they have the password, nobody ever knows I had it figured out.
Best of luck to you hippo and if you like it I hope it turns into a permanent gig.

God yeah I know Stockly Park, I did work for BT (O2) there a few years back. I used to have to get the train from Luton everyday, nearly killed me!!!
So much easier to drive but it's near the dreaded M25..yuck....
Good luck Hippo, good to hear.....

Oh boy! What a day my first day was yesterday!
Cos it was my first, they let me start at 10:00. So I thought, "set off at 08:00, roads will be clearer and I should make it on time".
NO!!!!
Loaded my car and noticed a fluid deposit round the nearside rear wheel. It was brake fluid! Arrrggghhh! Cylinder gone!
Tried to book a hire car, no chance. Only way to do it is by train. By now, it's 09:00. So I did it - train to Euston, tube to Paddington, train to West Drayton, bus to work. Three hours later got there. What a nightmare journey! (Repeat the journey in reverse to come home)
As it turned out, it was a bit of blessing. My new manager was OK with me cos he had a major issue to deal with for a couple of hours and couldn't have given me the attention he wanted to at that time anyway.
Bit of a good-bad start to a new job. I'm off today, but back in nights Wednesday to Saturday to learn the ropes. Should be fun.

I had to do that, West Drayton is a frigging nightmare, like a train every half hour or so, drove me nuts.......
