OK, here's the deal:

I have one person that is having trouble accesing his attachments. He is on Outlook 2000, SP3 and all updates for both OS (XP) and Office (2000). We have an Exchange 2K server, but I don't think it's the server that is having the trouble.

Anyways, every time he clicks on one of his emails with an attachment it takes time to refresh and stalls for about 20 seconds. He was not Synchronizing his mail, so I don't see a problem there, and when we tried the same thing on another system it was fine and there was no delay. Is this the Schlitz (minus the "L") or what?

To avoid this problem for now, I have synchronized his mail and subfolders to help with the delay so he can access the local copy and let the synchronization take place in the background. I don't think there is corruption in the database as this problem does not happen on other systems.

Any ideas???

Plz help if you can... Mucho appreciados!

Is the e-mail in question being stored in an archive or personal .pst file located in the user's home directory on a remote server? This can cause lag time depending on how well connected the remote server is.

...and those files can get tremendous. My boss has a 300MB pst by himself. How about that for network traffic?

The mail is stored on the local Exchange server store connected via fibre. I have not had to deal with this store in awhile as it was managed by another person. I am now the sole manager/IT person left in this failing company and just want to find out why it was this one mailbox having trouble with slow access to attachments. i thought about running the eseutil command, but I haven't used this tool yet and would like to know what i'm in for... so to speak.

Thanks,

If you're the "sole manager/IT person", then you're also the Exchange admin. Grant yourself (on your PC) permission to open your clients mail and see if you experience the same problem. If you don't have the problem, then it's something on that specific machine. This is the 1st place to start to see if the problem can be repeated on other PC's or if it's just local.
