Problem with MS Project 2000

| I have a problem with MS Project 2000.
I am trying to load MS Project 2000 onto my laptop which is running Windows XP Pro.
I get a message which says, "Microsoft Office 2000 Setup Bootstrapper (ORK) has encountered a problem and needs to close".
Anyone got any ideas what I can do about this. I need to revise my MS Project skills for a job interview and I haven't used MS Project for many years.
I have tried the MS Support web pages and tried updating some files as they suggest, but to no avail. I also tried putting the error message in the search field; again without success.

| A read error while loading the setup program will cause that error. The office 2000 bootstrapper was pretty dumb and will abort for most things |
