that's just ridiculous... let's put those welfare people on the damn phone and have them employed and solve the problem that way

Why should they get support for nothing? Let's make them work for it. It's better for their soul...

Anyone ever call one of these "outsourced" jobs. I did Tuesday with Best Buy and wasn't happy.

No kidding, Peshawar tech support is not always that good at English, let alone at tech support

I love it when you ask a simple question and they have to look up the rule book answer.

I love yelling at them that they suck and should go play with a pig's balls... not that I would ever do that

Listen to this one.

On Tuesday I called Best Buy to check on the status of an Earthlink Cable Service rebate. The guy on the phone informed me it was a manufacturer rebate and not a Best Buy one so I'd have to contact Earthlink. I told him I called the number Best Buy provider and that's tech support.

So the Best Buy rep on the phone decided to three-way call with me on the phone to Earthlink. We go your typical outsourced New Delhi, India rep who probably works for $1/hr.

The Best Buy guy did most of the speaking for me. He explained I wanted to know the whereabouts of my rebate. So the "outsourced," as we will refer to the Earthlink rep asked me my account information. I gave her my user name and she said "It's a cable modem service. What is the problem with your service?" I said I don't have a problem and I want to know where my rebate is. She then told me to call my local cable provider. This is when the Best Buy guy inverted elaborating on my question with a stronger tone. Then she put us on hold for 5 minutes. I and he spoke about why outsourcing is a bad thing because this is what you get.

Then the "outsourced" came back...still absolutely clueless about the question. She probably could find the answer in her Hindu database to translate to English. She then put on hold again while she speaks to the head "outsourced" and hung up on me and the Best Buy guy.

Earthlink customer service sucks balls.

I wish this experience were the exception, but we all know it's the rule...

It's amazing how such a simple question asked here is a complex one in India.

especially considering how smart they are supposed to be!

I had a couple of kids from India in my class at MIT and they pretty much kicked XXX... then again, they are not the ones manning those $1 an hour positions

Yeah, the American-Indians are smart. I had an India instructor at school and he was awesome.

The Indians from India should brush up on there English and "people skills." I don't want to speak to someone who speaks English as only a second "side" language.

I hear ya, after all, English is my *third* language
