This question is not really geared toward current operating systems, unless you truly enjoy the O/Ses of the present day. Just curious about what O/Ses other members in the Information Technology field truly enjoyed working with through the evolution of the industry.

Personally I enjoyed the simple yet functional DOS. Though simple and plain, there was a certain welcome feeling that accompanied the C:\>.

Windows XP Home and Pro, easiest to use and to configure, albeit previous winOS' were good such as 95/98 its time to upgrade people, it AMAZES me that people still use win95 by choice. *shivers*

my fav. olde-tyme operating system was/is Digital Equipment Corp. OS/8 V3D on an PDP 8/E with 128KB core memory and a couple RK05J disk pack drives. Hard to beat that two-instruction boot loader that could be toggled in from the console switch panel.

Ahh a believer in the one ring. Ditto, in the mainframe world I liked the MCP who's name was unfortunately used as the evil do'er in the movie Tron.
