What to certify in first?
|
|
|
| I love networking and I dont have much in depth knowledge about it except I took the CCNA Basic exam last week and failed it with 777 points. I needed 825 point to pass the exam.
Anyways, I am currently looking for a job in networking (ofcourse entry level) and was wondering if I should take Network + first or stick with CCNA since its fresh up in my mind.
Secondly, do you think getting certified in Network +, A+, and maybe CCNA will help me land a job with no prior experience in networking?
Thanks for all your replies

P.S. Do you think videos like CBT nuggets CCNA and Network+ will help? I mean just by studying that and doing some exam problem?

| First off welcome to EN.
I would recommend A+ and Network+ as they will help you build a better foundation for a career then go back towards CCNA.
Also it is NEVER a good idea to depend on videos and practice tests alone unless you have ALOT of prior hands on experience.
Good Luck. | |

| I have a lot of experience in hardware/software. I also have a lot of experience in OS. I just dont have extensive experience in networking. I know the basics of it, but not in details. Do you think I came close to passing the Cisco exam? Or did I miss too many questions? | |

| I agree with prezbedard, A+, Net+ will give you all the basics that you will need to take you to CCNA. Even though you have a lot of hands on, I would recommend at least two sources of study material, no two writers cover the same topics at depth as the other. Good luck | |

| Isn't A+ about hardware and Operating systems? Can they increase the chance of me getting a job? | |

I'm not too familiar with the CCNA you should ask in the Cisco forum though I believe the passing score is closer to 900.

Well it certainly won't hurt.
A+ is a entry/ground level cert.
It is a good cert to start with when pursuing certification.

| A number of employers require A+ and an increasing number are requiring Network+ to even achieve the phone call leading to an interview stage.
The two tests are fairly basic (although I am hearing the A+ is getting a little more difficult) and kind of pricey, however the certification is for life.
Cheers,
