I wanted to access the content on my diskett but what kept on opening was the previous file on the first diskett I acessed. This problem continued until I shut down the system and restarted. After accessing the diskett, I inserted another diskett but it opened the content of the last diskett.

This mean that I have to shut down my system and restart it before I can access another diskett.

What is the cause of this problem and how do I solve it?

Well there could be something wrong with the second diskette you are trying to read. Can the diskette be opened in DOS.....if not the diskette is fried.....or go to start, run and try a: (enter) and see if it opens this way....

actually there is a circuit that monitors when a disk is changed. it obviously is not working. (it is the 2nd most common failure after mis-aligned heads)

some cheap fixes... changing the cable can sometimes remedy this if the connection is bad. i dont remember what pin controls the circuit.

also make sure that the drive is plugged into the end plug if there are two plugs available.

other than that, you may have to replace it.
