why we like this site...
|
|
|
| what are the reasons why you like this site? It would be fun to know what we all get from our experience here | |
| format kid 2004-03-02, 9:06 am |
| I like it because there are alot of knowledgable people here. Alot of people who have already been through the certification process, plus have a good feeling for what's out there employment-wise, etc. It's good to get the info to know what to expect.
Alot of questions are posed that make me look things up so I learn from that, and if I'm stumped somebody here will usually know what to do. I'm not the most active person on here, but believe me, I read most of it (that relates to what I'm working on anyway)
The biggest thing that seperates this board from other cert boards imho is how active it is, as much as I look at the other boards, alot of times its the same old posts, unresponded to. Here somebody will at least usually offer some kind of feed-back pointing you in the right direction if they don't know exactly what you're talking about.

| I enjoy the interactions with the other people on these boards, everyone seems to have a great sense of humor as well as being supportive of the other members.
I enjoy answering other peoples questions, it helps me to stay sharp and sometimes I learn something new to share with my students.
This is the best IT forum on the web and I hope it keeps going forever...

| I thing the knowledge is what is most important, there never seems to be a question not answered. The help with the certs from those who have gone before is great. | |

| i like this site because i can pretend that there are people who actually like me | |
|
| I like the way that it makes me think, or look stuff up when people pose questions. You can also get valuable opinions from people who've been there and done that. But mostly I like the support; if you post a thread saying you've passed an exam, you're guaranteed to get a few replies, from people you've never met, congatulating you. Likewise for a fail, you'll get positive responses, and constructive advice. | |

| I like this site because Spides can make himself out to be intelligent, honest and popular.
Unlike in the real world.
A full head of hair is overrated, just ask Spides.
Donate via paypal so that he can buy a syrup to cover his bare Barnet. And shell out on a few cans of slim fast.

| I'm just here for the fish. There seems to be enough chips but I'm doing a low carb diet. Good health everyone. | |

| I'll have to agree with that "a lot of activity going on here" thing. It's just nice so have lots of input.
PS. You know when you been around computers too much when you use words like "input".

| I like it because you can start gay threads like this one and everyone will humor you by responding to it instead of telling you it's gay.

| I like the friendships that are built through this site, take Spides and Sexy Lexy for example. | |

| Sexy Lexy I pissed myself at your reply......a donation on paypal would help but I wouldn't waste it on a toupee, and my missus would agree with the cans of slim fast...bumming in Oz for a year does that to the digestive system......

Well I will on disagree with the popular bit, i am touched in the fact of having a wide circle of friends...as for the intelligent and honest, well I've always been a chancer and as for honest, yeah I'll disagree also, I put my hand up to using TestShit.......
I know Sexy Lexy still loves me and for that I am touched........

| I like the support of everyone else. The humour. The comradeship. The time-wasting at work.
This is the first forum I've signed up to and actually posted anything. So it must be good.
I've read things on a few other forums, but never found one where I've wanted to get involved.

| me? I dunno... 2004-03-07, 1:25 pm |
| well, partly because i can say george bush sucks pig dink and not really worry about the ramifications... also I did get a lot of help here, much from people who have since deciced they would just as soon see me nuked at any rate I dont help much technically because, well frankly, there are just so many here who are more advanced than me.
I have discovered some interesting things lately though, for instance...
var historyArray:Array = new Array ();
historyList_lb.setDataProvider (historyArray);
historyArray.onMouseDown = function () {
this.unshift ("Mouse pressed down at x:" + _root._xmouse + " and y:" + _root._ymouse);
historyList_lb.setSelectedIndex (0);
};
historyArray.onKeyDown = function () {
this.unshift ("Key pressed with ascii value of: " + Key.getAscii ());
historyList_lb.setSelectedIndex (0);
};
historyArray.onResize = function () {
this.unshift ("Stage resized to W:" + Stage.width + " x H:" + Stage.height);
historyList_lb.setSelectedIndex (0);
};
enable_btn.onRelease = function () {
Mouse.addListener (historyArray);
Key.addListener (historyArray);
Stage.addListener (historyArray);
}
disable_btn.onRelease = function () {
Mouse.removeListener (historyArray);
Key.removeListener (historyArray);
Stage.removeListener (historyArray);
}
it just keeps getting better

Seriously though, I find it 90% useless. Something usefull will pop up every 10 days or so.

| I found this site to be a valuable resource for study guides and links, the main reason I used the site. However the forums, esp. this one can cover a wide spectrum of issues from interesting to incredible and just plain mad. All round I would say a good bunch of people around here, and most times someone will try to help, there are some real sharp people here who know their stuff. | |

| For me, it has helped me to pass my Core. The updated 2003 test, at that. With only 2 1/2 weeks of preparation, having failed the test previously with a 420 (passing was 467 at the time) ... up to a 543. | |
