| SI.com's Tom Verducci confirms the Yankees will acquire Alex Rodriguez from the Rangers for Alfonso Soriano and a player to be named, with New York planning to move A-Rod to third base.
Sigh... When will the madness end? Their payroll will now be over $200 million. Let's institute a damn salary cap already; this is absurd. prezbedard and freak, how do you feel about this? Your sox probably won't be the favorite anymore.

| The people with the money will always make the rules. How sad is it that the starting shortstop for the Yankees had more errors last year than the person that they want to play 3rd base for them. He also won the gold glove at shortstop, but please move to 3rd for us. | |

| Welcome to New York, New York A-Rod! Red Sox suck!
Muhahahahaha! | |
| prezbedard 2004-02-15, 2:14 am |
| I sure hope A-rod isn't in the habit of crowding the plate... | |
| prezbedard 2004-02-15, 2:16 am |
| You shouldn't hate MLB. You should hate the MLB players union.
Bunch of SOB millionaires don't need no freaking union...
oh and don't forget to hate old georgie poo...
|
| Hopefully one day all the fans will collectively give the raspberry to the greedy players and their agents and stop going to games and buying merchandise. Then and only then will sanity prevail.
I dunno what local prices are like over there, but a cap is like $50 - a shirt $120up and a jacket a couple hundred over here. To me that sucks, so I refuse to purchase them.

| Well Fenway Park has the most expensive seats in Baseball and the 2004 season is pretty much sold out. No matter what fans say in Boston we love our RedSox and that is proof.
from espn.com
quote: According to the Hartford Courant, procrastinating Red Sox fans may find themselves shut out of Fenway Park this season. The Sox have sold more than 2.1 million tickets as of Feb. 11, the earliest date the franchise surpassed 2 million. When single-game tickets went on sale Feb. 7, the Red Sox sold 112,000 tickets. "There still are several thousands tickets available," Charles Steinberg, vice president for public affairs, told the newspaper. "At the rate they're going, we believe that now is the time to buy. We don't know how this rate of purchase will sustain, but to the degree that it does … they are going."

| It will be interesting this year watching the Yankees.
A-Rod has a bat and is a good shortstop, but how quick of a study will he be at a position he has not played?
What will happen if Jeter gets hurt and A-Rod does well while playing SS?
Who will play 2B with Soriano off to the Rangers?
Will the negative attitudes and huge egos that were brought in during the off season gel?
Can the Yankees even come close to playing little ball?
Would anyone be surprised to see Jeter or A-Rod move to 2B with Sheffield at 3B?
Cheers,

| A Rod will be the yank shortstop whether its sooner ot later it will happen. Georgie poo is quick to knee jerk reactions. Once Jeter messes up bingo.
yanks have a whole at 2nd with Wilson there.
One thing for sure the Sox have the Superior pitching staff this time around.
| Boulware5 2004-02-16, 11:30 pm |
| I definately agree that the Sox have the better pitching. Mussina is good, but Kevin Brown is way too injury prone, John Lieber didn't even pitch last year, and Vazquez is pitching in the American League for the first time. Evil Empire will win plenty of games and win the division. Sox will win the wild card. Here's hoping the evil empire choke in the playoffs (which I definately think is a possibility) | |

Muhahahaha! The Sox will coke! Not the yanks!
| prezbedard 2004-02-16, 11:35 pm |
| No the Sox will win the division and Baltimore will win the wild card.
The yanks lost there big game man in Pettite. They also will have to make up for not to mention the 53 wins of the 3 pitchers they lost. (Pettites, Clemens, Wells).
| prezbedard 2004-02-16, 11:39 pm |
| Here's a number A Rod's avg was .208 in the bronx in 2003. | |
| Boulware5 2004-02-16, 11:46 pm |
| prez, while I understand you are a bosox fan and hate the yankees (as do I), you got to be realistic. No way in hell the evil empire don't make the playoffs. I'm just telling it like it is, all bias aside. While I would pinch myself if my Orioles get the WC over the evil empire, I know that just isn't realistic. | |
| Boulware5 2004-02-16, 11:54 pm |
| Geezus! I also heard that Greg Maddux is close to signing with the yankees. When will the madness end!!!!! | |
| prezbedard 2004-02-16, 11:55 pm |
| Realistic? Look at the yanks in depth a little more. How did they win last year? With pitching. The Sox have the upper hand there now. | |

As I said they did. But this doesn't mean the Orioles overtake the yankees. Hell man, I'd be in heaven if they (the evil empire) went 0-162. But unfortunately they will have a really good regular season record.

| I am a RedSox fan but I am tired of breaking down everytime the yanks make some move. The Sox are a damn good team. Don't let names hypnotize you.
Baltimore has stacked its lineup well and will be interesting to watch in 2004. Hopefully the Sox can fare better against them this season.

Our pitching is still young and unproven. We are probably 1-3 years away from really being a contender.

So the Best Buy guy from Beantown thinks the yanks won't make the playoffs. Ha!

| I don't think A Rod is that big of deal.
We have 3 pitchers that have started an All Star game. What about the yankers?

When the Bosox lose, he will make a big deal.

| No he won't. | |

| It's a good thing that the championship in baseball is decided in March and not October. After all, injuries shouldn't be a part of a game where succeeding less than 1/3rd of the time makes you a multimillionaire...
Cheers,
