Author Need to study more cert but can't concentrate on study. Need advice/suggestions

Hello Everybody,

I need your advice/suggestion in this serious matter. I can not concentrate
properly in my studies. I have some cisco exams pending which i need to finish as soon as possible but because of carelessness,
interest in TV/sports and other big tentions in life i can't concentrate on my study though i know those exams are very important to enhance my carrier and want to finish them quickly. I am in my early 20s.

When i started my carrier 4 & half years back, i used to study 15+ hours in a day. Some exams i had passed with just 1 or 2 weeks full time study with experience and hands on lab(with out dumps). I have good job and i am not worry to lose my job but getting some more certs will advance my carrier. Sometimes i don't even like reading technical docs for my job tasks also.

I also usually forget "things/work to do" but now i am trying to overcome this problem by writting notes. And whenever i start a job task i use my full energy to finish this task as soon as possible(no patience at all) though i am little bit careless and i always try to do MULTIPLE tasks at the same time in order to save time(no patience)Anybody over here face any issue like this ? If yes then what you do to overcome this issue?

break up your goals into smaller ones. Set milestones with a specific dates. I find myself marking chapters in this book to read today, review this # of questions, etc. Take the big picture and break it down into realistic pieces. I use to plan out my day hourly, but now it's just a to do list daily. hourly was too anal and wasting time.

As for sports, pick your battles. Do you really need to watch the whole game or just the last quarter when your team is playing a bottom feeder? Maybe you follow to many different sports?

Remember you only live once... have fun. find a balance

If you find a subject boring you will have a harder time remembering it. Also not enough sleep, stress and a crap diet ( too much sugar ) will also affect memory retention. I also find that when you take a break you come back refreshed and in a better frame of mind to learn.

Good luck

Maybe you need a break? It seems like you have done a lot of studying in a short amount of time. Sometimes we just need to step away and come back later...

Best of luck to you

i hate to burst your bubble but you are suffering from burn out.

ive seen it many many times and it hits the most dedicated professional.

you need to get a break from what you are doing, or find a way to rekindle the interest you had when you started in the field.

that 15 hours of studying to overkill. there is no excuse for that kind of behavoir as it will hurt you way more than benefit you.

i think the best way to get out of the rut, especially if time off from work is out of the question is to get a hobby. or anything that interests you. but stay away from that obsessive-complusive bs that got you in trouble in the first place.

and dont feel bad that you are where you are. you might be surprised to find out the number of people suffering from the exact same thing you are. i worked at a company that required us to attend classes on avoiding burn-out and you have all the classic symptoms.

one more thing, forget this "gotta get it done as fast as possible" crap. it will get you nowhere. if your head aint in the right place, anything you accomplish now will most likely be no good for you in the long run or a another avenue for more frustration.

that is an idea... you could use that site as part of a "before and after" scheme.

like certify there, then end of up here. the after pic could be a pic of the dumpster.

i mean no offensiveness, but how is braindump really any different from practice tests at end of certification Books? to me it seems same thing, yes?

It is the same thing as saying, how is stealing the midterm with questions and answers any different then answering the pratice questions in your text book.

Come on guys be practical. All of us knows that "PRACTICE QUESTIONS" is the term used for braindumps(but we don't call it, that is another case). After all you are going to get the questions in the same sequence. What else you need to practice ?(choose the correct answer or drag and drop). My personal experience is if you had read the book 2-3 times and had done hands on lab then you can pass the exam plus experience will give you good edge. Anybody disagree with me?

there is a pool of questions from which the test can take . . . whether you use 'Braindump' or 'practice test' the questions are the same, yes? if i take test and tell you what i remember of said test of an author that helped create the test gives you the test questions and answers in back of his or her book, how is this different? isn't the author 'stealing' for profit? sory Mr. but i donnot see essential Differnce.

You ignored my question. Do you think it is ok to see the mid term questions and answers before you take a midterm? Also if you have enough experiences and study enough then there should be no reason to break the law/rules and use braindumps. I would never use them because I would feel like I was cheating myself. I would always have a doubt in mind wether or not I actually knew the answer to the question because I knew my material or if I knew the answer because I recalled seeing it before on a braindump.

Besides what ever your beliefs are it doesn't matter because using braindumps are against the rules. I mean I think I should be able to walk about nude riding donkeys in the middle of NYC but that is against the law so I don't do it.

if using 'braindumps' are against the 'rules', then why do the authors of 'study guides' not get chastised? if you studies correctly all midterm questions would you have already seen.

if you have enough experience should you not study for test? how many people here use certification books or 'practice tests'? if you do, then you use braindump. only those who use 100% experience before taking Tests are not guilty of this.

if you used study books with practice questions, then u use Braindumps, right?

umm...where you been??

we dont exactly put these scumbags on a pedestal...

and there is a huge difference between study guides and braindumps...

practically all courses are based on a text book of some sort.

you must really hate it when someone gets the drop on you or you would have admitted your flawed reasoning when you couldnt answer chrisdfer's question...

I never said if you have enough experience then you shouldn't study. I said if you have enough experience and you study then you SHOULDN'T NEED BRAINDUMPS/THE ACTUAL STOLEN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS to pass the exam.

The writers of the books are not chastised because they(hopefully) did not use the actual questions and answers on the test.

You then say if you study for your midterm then you already seen all the answers to the questions. Well just because you study does that mean you have the right to view the actual test questions and answers before the exam? I personally don't think. You may think differently but some us wear see through black panties.

Also if you study correctly for a certification then you also should have seen the answers for the questions that would be on the exam. However the difference is that the questions and answers you saw are not exactly the same wording as you would see on the exam.

A writer perhaps does not use the 'actual questions; on the exam, but neither does one who writes braindumps write actual questions since they are using their memory which is fallible.

If you really wich to not do Braindump, then you will not use sample test questions that autors put out anymore than you would people who say they copy tests questions from exam. for example, suppose test questions says: what protocol does the routing: tcp, udp, ip, smtp, and braindump guy says: what protocol does the routing: ip, telnet, ftp, udp . . . this braindump or not? he gets basic idea across, but messes up the exact wording. this is ok since he did not do exact question, right?
haseeb_eng

Should we call this conversation miscommunication or misunderstanding ? bsdboy i think so this is going to be called braindump question because IP & UDP are common in both the questions.

How on earth you walk about while riding on a Donkey I don't know?

Either you have very long legs or a very short Donkey.

Braindumps : Word for word questions and Answers from actual exams - Illegal and quite often wrong as the answer given is from the answer given by the person who is remembering the exam.

Practice Questions : Questions based on the MS objectives for the exam. - Legal and a good source of learning, as its usually written by the author of the book who hopefully knows his stuff.

Then there is the grey area, questions written by people who take the exams and make up their own questions. now these vary from ones which are based on the questions they have seen on tests they have taken and just reworded, to ones that have been made by reading text books and asking themselves a question.

A person who has a good memory (photographic stylii), but absolutely no knowledge of how computers work, could memorize a braindump sheet with all the answers, go in and pass a test, but have absolutely no idea how to put it into practice.

Do you want that sort of person looking after your servers?

Imagine if to become a doctor all you had to do was pass written tests, the same person could memorise all the test answers from a Medical braindump and become a Doctor.

Now, do you want that person to operate on you when you need an operation to save your life?

how does this hurt any industry? as long as you can do work, no problems, right? if you learn using 'illegal' braindump or 'legal' study guide, what is the difference?

anything worths learning cannot be taught be tests anyway. real tests is real life performance, yes?

so if it is not word for word then it is no braindump? simple the, just alter words around a bit. if braindumps were so bad, this site would not exist.

as for doctor braindumps, real doctors practice on dead people. if braindump people used dead networks to prepare for exams, what hurt it?
