| I am trying to help someone with their network. They are a 5 PC workgroup. No server. There is one laptop that can surf the net and even ping other PC IP addresses. I can Not get it to see any of the shares from the other pc's. All the others see them. Any Ideas? This same pc can't ping via PC names.
Second thing is..... Another desktop can see lets say 20 folders on another PC when there is really 25 shared and all of the other PC's can see all 25.
Third is he has another laptop that when he goes to Yahoo mail and tries to left click on the box to type in user name and ID, left or right clicking does not put the cursor in the box at all. Nothing happens.
These are a few things that I thought you might help me with. I have seen XP see shares and then not see for a while and then magically see them again. | |

| Sometimes a new pair of eyes helps.
I'm not as experienced, but I can learn by researching along with you.
It sounds like you've already checked the cables.

| The one having a problem with IE has a virus. I had that problem on about a dozen machines about a month ago.
As far as the one computer not seeing shares, make sure an account is created on the computer sharing the folder and it has the same password as the one being used on the computer trying to reach the share.
That's the terrible thing about workgroups when you want to share something.
