What are PNG files and how can they be converted into JPEG or JPG files?

Working on my own website using Word2000 and all my digital snaps are JPG types.
Unfortunately, Word has converted some of my snaps into PNG files making them a lot larger in size and more difficult for my ftp client to upload/ take more time doing so.

I am using free webspace right now but plan on changing that soon. See my profile for guidance.

PNG - portable network graphics format.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "convert png to jpg" (without the quotes).

Search engines are amazing.
