| On a computer that OS is XP service pack 1, I was typing ipconfig and got the error it would not work becasue WMI.dll was not found. Re-stall it. Ok, I tried to google WMI.dll but could not get a easy definition on it. Help please.

| crack out your XP CD. Boot with the CD and run through it like a regular install. It will say "looking for previous installations" or something like that. At that point it will see your current install. You'll then have an option to repair the current install.
Select the repair option and it will reinstall any missing OS files.
