| My school offers the first 3 certs I take there only $15 each if you take the tests befor you graduate. I know I have about 15 months left but I was wondering what 3 certs would be good for a graduate right out of school.
I'm going for an associats in IT/networking admin and security.
I was thinking of getting net+, security+, and tring for my MCSE after taking all the classes. Would this be good to have for a graduate? Or should I get any other certs? | |

| You seem to be on the right path. I would also recommend that you try to add a CCNA or CCNP to the list of certifications to pursue prior or shortly after graduation. If you go for the CCNA you could cross out Net+ from the list, the material covered in Net+ is an intro to what the CCNA covers. Security+ and MCSE certs will not steer you wrong. Also take a good look into wireless certification that market is becoming rather warm right now.

| Azger,
the most important thing you can do while in school is get an internship somewhere or be a student worker for the school's IT department.
Certs are great, but they don't mean anything without some experience. I can't stress that enough.
Don't pass over A+. It is a core cert that many people look for when applying for a technician or desktop support job.
If you want to work with routers and switches, look at getting your CCNA.
Hope that helps. | |

| Experience is the key..
Certification look good on paper, but skill look good on the interview and job. |
