Have a win98 system trying to create the win98 setup boot disk but I don't have the original disk that was installed on the pc.

Anyone have any ideas on how to create a setup boot disk in "add remove programs" for Win98?

Could I just download it from Bootdisk.com or do i need the specific computer/registry to make that setup disk?

Any help appreciated.

Downloading a bootdisk from bootdisk.com will be fine.
As far as I'm aware the bootdisk doesn't contain O/S specific files for your setup. Just general troubleshooting tools, eg. scanreg (some bootdisks from that website don't contain scanreg so make sure the one you download has all the tools you require. The basic purpose of the disk is to allow you to boot to a prompt.

The backup registry files are normally stored everytime you boot your computer. I beleive it keeps the last 5 days backups. These are stored on your HD, although you could copy to a floppy if needed depending on their size.

Go to the add/remove programs|Startup disk Tab|click create disk. You will need one floppy disk.
