Author insufficient registry data to uninstall

I wanted to uninstall a program from my computer and got the message:
Insufficient registry data to uninstall

I tried it from both the control panel applet and from the start>programs>program name>uninstall and got the same message.

The program, by the way, runs, or at least it did the last time I ran it. I haven't used it in a while, but I haven't made any configuration changes to the system.

My guess is the file it uses to uninstall the program has either been deleted or overwritten by another program that was installed and that program used the same name for its uninstall routine. Might sound corny, but reinstall the program you are trying to remove, then run the uninstall again.

Have you gotten to try it yet?

Curious to see if it helped.

No, we're closing the monthly books and I can't have the computer tied up for long enough to try it until like Friday afternoon when everyone leaves early for the long weekend.

Update: No it didn't work. I'll have to go into the documentation to find the tech support site to find out which registry data is missing, I guess.

GOT IT!

I had tried to install and uninstall, and it didn't uninstall. So I was playing around in the documentaiton trying to find a FAQ site or page, and found an application called "uninstall." Guess what--it uninstalled it.

Lesson learned: Dig a little deeper.

YOu know, it just never occurred to me that my statement wasn't safe.

And so I start the day shaking my head in disbelief and stupefaction

I'm pretty tall for a woman; being "a lot shorter" than my man has never happened in my lifetime.

My man is potty trained (well, two out of three of them are).

As for freebies, I just can't see that low into the gutter.

BTW, I know exactly why I have poor depth perception.
