what is the craziest symptom ever reported to you or someone you know...

For me, just now, someone told me that her monitor was sparkling and whirring.

I've had someone snap a cd trying to put it into a 3.5" floppy drive, and no that is not and old wives tail....

I had a lady tell me her floppy disk has gotten stuck into her computer. It sometimes happens so I think nothing of it...

After I pulled the floppy out of the drive, I noticed the floppy looked like a Sine wave -- distorted beyond belief.

I asked her what happend to the disk, and after a few more questions the truth came out: She had the disk on the seat next to her in the car, she spilled coffee onto the disk, and then put the disk into the sun to dry...

Of course this is the same lady who's keyboard was not working... darn jelly donuts!

Had a lady tell me her internet was down, and that her "box smells."

this is a repeat, but since you asked,
I had a woman call and tell me her "keyboard was gone". I naturally assumed either the wire fell out, or the keyboard (to a dumb terminal, so aptly named I always thought) just went bad. I kept asking her to hit some keys, and she kept saying she couldn't because the "keyboard was gone!!".
So, I went out to her desk, and behold, her keyboard was in fact Gone. She'd put it on top of the monitor to collate some papers on her desk, and it had slid off down behind the desk. I simply followed the wire.
that was one of the best laffs I've ever had, and my favorite stupid user support stories.
