Welcome

I suggest having a good browse through the Microsoft forums and don't feel shy about asking questions. Do however have a quick look to make certain that your patrticular query wasn't asked by someobody else yesterday.

BOT: If you have hardware experience already, but little Software, have a look at the Comptia A+ exams as a starter, then maybe move onto the MCSE track once you have got the hang of studying and exams.

A+ has two exams one Hardware and on OS

Good luck and welcome to the forum.
