I worked hard and was proud of myself many years ago to obtain my MCP, as I progressed I passed the MCSE and study brought me to my upgrades and then on to MCT!
being stationed in Turkey I have found where Americans (service member and contractors buy their certs for less than 2K. its sad and Microsoft will never look at the scores and see that these guys did not test.. No wonder certification is worthless in many areas of the IT sector.you truly have to be able to show what you know in a hands on test and I honestly feel MS needs to move on to that type of test. many of us worked to hard for those certs and to have them sold is more than a crime.

At the end of the day, it's no big deal in my book, in so far as these people who buy certs will never pass a true technical interview anyway...

Certification only to enhance your skill for a specific product.

It only proof for certain thing,...

For example. A HS graduate can know more than college student. Sometime degree or paper, only mean that you are "luck" to have few more yrs fun. And remember that your 10 yrs experience is different than my 10 yrs experience.

Just know your limit and what need to improve.. to meet today demand

Have to agree with Freak but want to add two more points.
1. Qualifications
mean you can pass an exam but not necessarily do the job.
2. Based on my recent job apps having certification makes a big difference. The last one left two of us to choose from. I am MCSE 2k and the other guy was MCSE 2k and CCNA. Guess what, I'm still looking.

I switched to IT from Catering 6 years ago and felt that I needed exams to convince employers that I was serious about IT and wouldnt go back to a kitchen when things got tough.

I command you for your perseverance and your willingness to put it all back on the table. Good for you!

If you are still studying for the CCNA, I would like to help. I would like to give you a free copy of my study guide.

If you are interested, feel free to email me at freak at mcsefreakpress.com and I will send it to you.

Keep on studying, and congrats already on your current results!
