Just quarantined a virus on our Exchange server with the brilliant attachment name of
WAZZZZZZZ UP-SKOOOOOL SUUUKS.url.scr
That must be an Official Communication from Bill Gate$ Him$elf.

Good ol' Bugbear.

Wouldn't surprise me if some (l)user somewhere clicked on that one.

i have taken to saving attachments to folders on my computer just to see what virii they contain. recently got emails with sobig and gibe virus. one of them pretends to be an email from m$ including vital patches for ie and oe. bastards.

I always thought that you, (the PC owner), had to get the patches from M$. That they did not send patches via e-mail.

that's the catch. they prey on those who think that because the email is from m$ that it is okay, when m$ will not send out such stuff and (like you say) expect the pc owner/user to look after their own updates (unless they have windows update set to auto or something).

The site I admin was hammered Friday morning with the Sobig virus that is being passed around. Fortunately Norton Anti-Virus for MS Exchange caught it before it became a weekend nightmare for me.

If the person(s) that create these type of things would put their energies into creating something useful, imagine how much better some things would work. I do suppose though, that would be asking too much. I agree with thecomeons....

Bastards!!

I reckon, the antivirus companies have their own secret subdivision which specializes in creating virii, which the public faces of the company then develope the antivirus code to.

Hmmm.... they wouldn't do that would they? Might explain why they can develop a fix so quickly.

Hmmm.... could be. The viruses trapped by NAV on Friday did originate from China.
