| Hey guys, I doubt this is the place for this question.
Maybe you can point me to a better oriented forum, or site.
I assemble servers. 4-U and 6-U mostly, with full sized cards.
I'm looking for a dealer in the Los Angeles area who can supply me with all my needs.
From processors to hard drives to chassis to RAM to software.
Anyone around who is cheap but reliable?
Also, I'm new to this and need help deciding on new products to use. What's a good forum to go to for help?
Thanks! | |

| I work in the greater LA-Orange County Area as well.
I have been buying from Upgrade-Solution now for some 6 years... Website here
They sell CPU's, Memory and Hard drives....that is it.
Cases, Software and other Stuff will be found on www.Pricewatch.com
Most of my licenses i purchase from www.directdeals.com
Battery-Backups for my Servers are coming from www.powersupersite.com
PM me if you need more sources. Unless you sell in Long Beach... we may have a War going then...

| Deja-vue, thanks for the fast response!
I'm looking for an "as much as all in one" as possible, dealer.
I'd like to get everything from once source.
I doubt we'll be competitors, while I do build Servers, they are for specific purpose, not IT or Network related.
I probably have like a whole 10 competitors in the entire U.S.A.

| lol, czeddie
Everytime i found one of those "all-in-one" Dealers, they offer some Items at a good Deal, other parts are overpriced.
This is why i concentrated on Pricewatch.com
It is all at your Fingertips ( Keyboard), just wait for the UPS-Truck to arrive.
I just want the best deal money can buy, and so far, pricewatch has done me well.Only if i need something right there and then, do i go to a "local" Dealer.
I do use a lot of Harddrives, and upgrade-solution is just hard to beat.
If i build a Server for a mid-sized Company, i always tell them between 10-18 Days building Time, enough time to order everything online, it is just where you save a bunch of $$$, and this is really what it is all about, to save money and to make money, and of course, to give the customer the best deal possible.
Best of luck on your search!

| I agree with Deja pricewatch is the way to go but if you are set on a all-in-one place, try NexCom Computers. www.nexcomcomputer.com They are far from cheap but they are all-in-one and carry all the high end parts that you would need for rack servers. They are pretty much name brand only parts, for example you can get Supermicro 4u racks from them along with intel, supermicro and asus server motherboards. They used to cut deals with consultants, probably still do.
They have been around at least 10 years and have stores in Sherman Oaks, Torrance, Tustin, and West Covina. They used to run 7 or 8 page color adds every month in all the free trade mags like computer user. I noticed that they have cut back to every other month or so. Between the Fry's megastores and the big PC Club chain all the parts stores in So Cal are feeling pressure. Still if you are looking for speciality parts I would give them a try.

| oh no another crooked E. Whats up with that, first Enron, then Dell, now Ernies.
Hmmm "the get it and go so that you can rest drug store". Those guys are all up and down the beach on bicycles out here. Oh my that's another E isn't it. The life guards have to wake the tourists up before the tide comes in.
Well at least ExamNotes just has a crooked checkbox and not another crooked E. |
