Banned? How odd. When I signed up, it did take a couple days for them to send me the E-Mail that allows you to complete the signup procedure. Sorry to see you are having so much trouble with them. Perhaps I can E-Mail them for you and find out why your E-Mail address is bad?

I had the same response as DaPunisher when I tried to sign up.

I've posted a question on their general forums site asking why E-Mail addresses are being banned. When I get a response, I'll post it here.

Sorry to provide such a bum link for folks to follow.

I got the same crap too! And there is nothing wrong with my e-mail address! I did send the Webmaster a very irate e-mail, basically telling him to lighten up! Guess they don't want a lot of new members!

If I ever get a response from the site, I'll let you know what happened.

(Don't know if I want to join now. Didn't have that problem here at EN.)

I have received a response from XtremePcCentral.com and this is what Mntsnow, the owner/webmaster, has to say.

quote:
They are most likely using a hotmail, yahoo or other widely known
freebie email account. Due to prior abuse from those types of freebie
accounts they are disallowed from being used for registration purposes.
The sign up page clearly states that Hotmail and Yahoo are not allowed
and need to use a different email account (Namely their true ISP issued
email address.

If they are using their ISP issued account and are still unable to
register please contact me directly and I will be able to help.

Thanks for wanting to share your XtremePcCentral experience with others!

If you are not using one of the above accounts to register and are still being banned, please contact Mntsnow at XtremePcCentral and advise him of the situation. You could also PM me and I'll advise him for you.

Here's the reply I got from the Webmaster over there at Xtreme:

quote:
Get quite a few actually and have very little spamming from abusers of
those types of email addresses. I will go ahead and enable the hotmail
address for the next 24 hours to allow you to use it and depending on
future problems I will lock those out again....I prefer to keep my site
clean of spammers.

Glad your happy with your own site.

Best wishes,

Mike
Mntsnow
Owner XtremePcCentral.com

And this is and excerpt of what I had e-mailed him:

quote:
I'll bet you don't get a lot of new people on your site, what with banning 90% of the e-mail addresses. What is up with that anyway? Not everyone has an AOL account, or an SBC account, or whatever type of e-mail accounts that aren't banned on your site.

I have been, and continue to be, a Moderator of the 70-210 forum on Examnotes.net. (User name: mrfixit) I have never had any problems using this e-mail address anywhere else.

Lighten up, okay?

sincerely,

Kenneth J. Hoss
Systems Administrator

Can't blame him for wanting to keep spammers out. But it is always the few that screw it up for the many. Going to reply to his e-mail and thank him.

Well I am glad some of you are able to become members of the ExtremePcCentral site.

Maybe some of their members will become members of Examnotes too!

Yeah, and it's a lot easier to become a member here at EN. (No BS about banned e-mail addresses!)
