Hey guys,

I tried asking this in the linux forum but to no avail...

A bit of background... i have some modeate linux experience, i currently run my own setup witch i started from scratch (i.e no distribution). You should try it one day, very satisfying

anyway, i have the latest kernel and Xwindows (4.3.0) but cant get the damn mousewheel working!

Its a microsoft optical, in USB. Every place on the internet says i should use the [Option ZAxisMapping "4 5"] setting in XF86Config, i tried this but it said that "4 5" is not a valid option when i tried to start x?? It's in the correct section of the config file and all... it just won't accept it...

Any ideas guys? this one has me really stumped as i know this worked on previous version of X... dunno why not with mine

thanks

because it is

Option. "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

note the " " on ZAM...

system reads this...

first X
then Y

in the absence of X, then Y is presume X, and it is not an valid option

as you make the same mistake on both posts, this is likely to be the problem... look at other lines above that line and just copy/paste and change the words and variables.
