If I open the TCP port for some protocol in my firewall, should I open the relevant UDP port? for example, open TCP 25 &110 and UDP 25 &110 for email; both TCP and UDP 21 for FTP?

Thank you!

Just open up what the protocol uses. HTTP, SMTP, FTP and POP3 are purely TCP based.
