Hi folks

I want to dual boot my computer with Win XP Pro and Mandrake Linux 9.0.

I will be installing each O/S on a seperate hard drive. I understand I need a piece of software which enables me to chose my O/S upon booting my computer. Eg.. to chose either windows or Linux.
Where can I get this software? can I download it free?
Which O/S would I be best installing first. Windows or Linux?
How do I go about installing the second O/S.

Thanks a lot

Couldn't agree more.
Linux 8.0 comes with a Boot manager, called Grub, it will lets you choose the OS at bootup. Really cool. Don't even need 2 Harddrives for it.
I just don't know, if 9.0 is the best choice, never played with it, i find 8.0 very stable and secure.

i agree with kasor. linux usually comes with it's own bootloader. mandrake has one.

install your m$ o/s first, then linux. be careful not to install linux on the same drive as m$, though

Thanks for all the replies!

I successfully instlled XP Pro and Mandrake 8.0 (9.0 didn't work, scratch on one of disks).

I have them both on the same hard drive. After installing XP on a 15G partition, I then installed, Mandrake on the remaining 4.4GB. It automatically gives me an option to chose windows or linux upon boot!

Cheers!!
