How Laser Printers Work

| I am dealing with an issue regarding a laser printer. My A+ training did not prepare me for what I am facing. I understand that the fusing rollers fuse the toner onto the paper. What I would like to know is how does the fuser get hot. Also, typically is the fusing assembly seperate from the cartridge? Is there such a thing as a "Fuser Lamp"? | |

Tech if you are talking about HP you get a fuser repair kit. One of the rollers is a tube coded with the stuff in non-stick pans and the other is coated with high temp rubber (orange'y looking). The fuser lamp is a quartz lamp similar to space heaters and goes in the center of the non stick roller. Last time I changed one was on a laserjet III and did it again on a Canon copier.
Not a bad job to do and pretty obvious once you get the kit.

| Canon seems to be an engine supplier for several printer makers, might be the same. |
