| About Time!
I picked up a Software called DVDXCOPY, which allows you to make a Backup copy of your existing DVD's without loss!
The Program will split, if nessesary the Movie across 2 DVD-R's or a dual-side DVD-R. ( which is already available).
A regular DVD-R is now around $0.80, and the dual-side DVD-R cost about $2.65, not too bad.
Some Movies will fit on a single DVD-R.
I just copied BLADE 2 without a glitch, the movie works fine in several Home DVD players.
No more ripping, compressing,de-coding,removing CSS, using multiple programs, this thing really works great.
The program cost $99 and works fine for me.
I just thought i share for all the movie-freaks out there.
Here is the Site:

| I like the little CYA by saying "Backup copy of your existing DVDs without loss". You can't fool me. Anyways, I've heard that when you "backup" movies, the menu doesn't copy over, is this the case too with the program? | |

| Slinky.
It copies everything.
It looks identical, i am just blown away.

| In general is there any picture or sound quality loss at all when you copy from a DVD to a DVD-R? | |

| Very cool | |
|
| the screen shot looks like it is of great quality. | |
| Deja-vue 2002-12-15, 10:00 pm |
| There is absolutely no quality loss or loss in audio. ( 5.1 DD or 6.1 DD as well as DTS is still available)
Nothing has been left off, everything went on the Disk. Amazing.
It will give you, however the option, to leave certain Menues or additional footage off, but it is not recommended.

| I have heard of that program before and was curious of the quality and productivity of it ,now i know i can obtain it and not worry about the end product as you had mentioned the rigors of using the other multiple programs as i have aslo done before to back up copies and yes some of us do use it for our own dvds .
thanks for the tip | |

| Is this +RW compatible? | |
| Deja-vue 2002-12-15, 11:56 pm |
| It does DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+R,DVD+RW
I wouldn't choose the DVD+ Format, as it may give you problems with your Home-DVD player.

| I bought a DVD-R drive on the day after Thanksgiving sale, I was disappointed that I could not backup my boy's DVD's. I did see the program, and now I know I can get it. Thank you! | |

Really? I thought it was the other way around.

| This is all really amazing, but what was the damage to your wallet. | |

| $99 for the program, $0.80 for each blank DVD.
The DVD-Writer should be about $220 now, i bought mine 15 month ago for $500.

| You can buy a pack of 100 DVD-R's for around $60 or so on EBAY. That's how I get mine. It's cheaper to buy in bulk. If you go to a place like Staples, you will find a pack of like 3 DVD-R's for at least $10. | |

Screw -RW, +RW is the way to go!

| -RW works in everything...DVD players and PC's. | |

So does +RW and it has more industry backing.

| Boulware5, i usually buy my DVD's online too, such as www.meritline.com where you will find double-sided DVD-R's for about $2.39 each.
But last week i actually found them at a local PC-Club for $39.95/50 pack.
very cool!
My very first blank DVD-R was actually $11.50
My first blank CD was the same. ( back in 1996, i think)

| Ruscorp, please get your Facts straight.
DVD-R has been out for Years, DVD+ just now hitting the Market. And what about Authoring DVD's? It is usually done only by Pro's and
done in the DVD-R Format with very expensive writers.DVD-R is compatible with all Stand-alone Players, DVD+ only with a few.
When you say that there is a lot of Industry backing DVD+R, you probably think Sony.
Do i have to remind you of BETA?

What about all these other companies? http://www.dvdrw.com. I have nothing against -R/RW I just don't think it will survive the DVD recordable wars.
Now in the immortal words of Bill O'Reilly "...as always we respect your opinion and let the viewers decide."

| Deja, with those double sided DVD-R's... Can a modern DVD-RW writer write to both sides of the DVD? Thought I heard somehwere there was some issues. Pretty cool to be able to put an 8 GIG movie on one DVD-R if you can. | |
| Deja-vue 2002-12-16, 9:16 pm |
| Yes, Boulware5, i just backed up the "Harry Potter" movie, which had to be split, on a dual-sided DVD-R, which has 4.7 gigs on each side. Very cool, but no more Labels.
I used these for Data-backup as well, works like a charm.Never had a problem, the Writer thinks, you inserted a new blank.
| Deja-vue 2003-04-24, 5:41 pm |
| working with DVDXCOPY a few Month now, backed up a few dozen movies, works ok.
no complains, if it would only copy the darn thing onto one DVD-R.
So i got Pinnacle Instant Copy. Website It only costs $29.99 (after Rebate) and will not copy DVD's.
It will, however copy an Image of a DVD that you ripped onto your Hard drive first.
It is very easy:
1. Using DVDDecrypter, available free here , rip the entire DVD on your Hard drive.
2. Using IFO Edit, available free here , re-calculate the File.
3. Open Pinnacle and burn the whole thing on your DVD-R.
Simple as that.If you need a more detailed, step by step Instruction, please e-mail me and i will help you guys with it.
Pinnacle will not put the "Fingerprint" on the DVD, as DVDXCOPY does it.The registration is much more painless than DVDXCOPY, and i am very happy with the program so far.
(copied 4 Movies with it so far.)
I just thought i share....
