Author How did you arrive at your Login Name
enforcer

2002-08-02, 10:02 am

the name you use to login, how did it come about?

Mine came from my handle from playing Half-Life.
Paisleyskye

2002-08-02, 10:12 am

My username came about very simply. My nickname in school was always Skye, and I always said if I had a daughter I'd name her Paisley.

When I had a daughter I named her Sarah, so when it came time to find a username Paisleyskye just seemed to fit.

I have since received e-mails from people in Scotland telling me that there actually is a place called Paisley in a place called Skye over there. Highly coincidence - but very cool.

Teck Shark

2002-08-02, 11:05 am

Shark was a nickname I've had since grade school for my extreme aggressiveness & determination on the playing field. Wether it was Baseball, Soccer (European Football), American Football, or Golf... I've always had the drive & competitive spirit. And when I started becoming an IT guru in High School & on through college, natually they started calling me Tech Shark. So my nickname has evolved quite a few times. I guess you could say I have a thirst for IT knowledge.
Supertech

2002-08-02, 12:32 pm

I am a Senior Memeber of the Instrumentation, Systems & Automation Society (ISA). I am a Certified Control Systems Technician Level 3(CCST3). This level of certification is refered to as a SuperTech. I do instrumentation and Controls in a high-speed manufacturing facility.
Mauwakee

2002-08-02, 1:11 pm

It my name in Shawnee. The real spelling of it is Muhkwau or Mukwauau depends on the time area. My particular tribe Sipaasee wee linnee (which means panther) spelled it Mauwakee, which means Bear. If the bear is coming towards you, it is a wild bear. If the bear is going away from you, it is a running bear. Running Bear caught on at my fire department and that is what they call me LOL. By the way, for those over seas and not in USA, Shawnee is a Native American Indian Nation.

Crutch

2002-08-02, 4:21 pm

I've been called Crutch since I was a kid. It's a shortened version of my last name.

Hey ACE123! I'm a big WWII airplane fan myself. Actually, I'm an military aircraft fan. Got a whole collection of Bachmann Mini-Planes that I've owned since younger days. You're BF109E looks straight out of CFS.

2002-08-02, 4:44 pm

Shortened version of my name: actually I'm posting in the MS usenet groups as Richard Warwick with an e-mail client - bit confusing but there you are. Why? It enforces some sense of responsibility about what I post.

wicket

2002-08-03, 12:58 am

I was listening to an ice cube song called wicked and every time he said wicked it sounded like wicket.... to the point I started singing along using the word wicket instead. I figured it was an original nick and have used it for about 7 years now... I now even have a last name to boot...a complete alter ego if you will..... it's the name I use to fill out web forms or when some bastard has already registered my nick!! Wicket Jones

it the name of this punk band i was in a number of years ago. i registered with several unsigned sites and other free music organisations with this name. i just decided it would be easier to register with everything with the same name, that way i'd remember it easily enough.

bearing

2002-08-06, 7:37 am

I used to fix washing machines in my spare time while at Uni, a lot of people at the local hostelry had me fix there washers, and as most women overfill machines, bearings didn't last long, so I became Sh*t hot at replacing them....

Pretty boring hey...But you all know where to come when your washer goes west.....

Spid

2002-08-06, 2:14 pm

SPID - Service Profile Identifier (fancy name for an ISDN phone number).

When I had my ISDN line installed about 5 years ago (which I don't have anymore - switched to cable ), I purchase a 3COM ImpactIQ ISDN terminal (modem). It had this little software gadget called the SPID Wizard. At work, we started talking about how cool this little config utility was, and the guys at work started calling me Spid after that.

To this day the nickname has stuck.
freak

2002-08-08, 7:06 am

Is started a thread about this a while back where I explained my nickname.

I used to teach at MIT, and a group of my students visited me during office hour, which was a first. I was reading a linguistics book -- I am a linguistics major after all -- and they called me a freak for enjoying Noam Chomsky's book and reading them when I don't have to. It stuck.

Not as entertaining a story as you would have wished for, I am sure

DemiGod

2003-03-24, 7:52 am

It's a runing joke in our family. You see my husband and sister claim they are immortal and will never die. And they rule the kingdom.

In order for you to advance in the heirarchy you have to earn points. So far I have the most points in the kingdom and they dubbed me DemiGod.

Well it's an interesting point system.
You earn points for several things like
taking care of the "Gods", making sarcastic comments, putting people in their place, a funny joke, etc.

Pretty much if they like it - they'll give ya points.

2lazybutsmart

mine is just as plain as paper.

I knew I was 2 lazy to think of a username but smart enough to keep my small brain attic clean from garbage and useless lumber.

and the smart thing keeps you away from scavengers like enforcer, ruscorp etc.

Dear me, I've seen very respectable members lash out at others lately. Things are changing down here

ummm... who ever wants to buy a flame proof suit, we still have stock

Forsaken

2003-03-25, 2:37 pm

My name came from the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time Books. The 'Forsaken' were pretty powerful kick butt people out to destroy the world and make it their own. So it was either that or 'Pinky and the Brain'

I just have a bunch of Deja vu moments.

3 types:

déjà vecu (already experienced)
déjà senti (already felt)
déjà visité (already visited)

most people have these moments every other month, i experience them on a weekly base, sometimes very realistic.

anyways, Dejavu was already taken, so Deja-vue is it.
And i think, we had this Discussion before...(not kidding, Netchild should remember as well)
