| Search for the hostname in the directory and see what that says. Sounds like something has gone funny on the DC with this computer account. Check the computer account is still a member of the domain computers. Maybe right click the hostname and reset the account. | |

| Any of the users can log onto the domain if they are the only user on the work staition.
The problem is when a work staition has two or more users on the same pc.The first user will work but any other won't | |

| Well it is obviously mapping a user to a hostname and no other can use that hostname....weird. If a user had a problem and you could n't fix it on their profile because they don't have rights you won't be able to log onto this machine as administrator!!!! Trying logging on as yourself, being as you are in the administrator group. | |

| I track down a bit
problem seems to be with XP fast logon
ref MS Q305293
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...b;en-us;Q305293
The following table summarizes the default processing of policy on Windows XP.
2000 Synchronous Asynchronous
XP Pro Asynchronous Asynchronous
Note that Windows XP clients support Fast Logon Optimization in any domain environment. To turn off Fast Logon Optimization, you can use the following policy setting:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\
Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon
The prob now is that I can't find " Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\ " on the computer anywere.
can anyone tell me how to diable fast logon on a XP computer.
thanks for any help | |

| You are gonna have to perform this on the domain controller, specifically within the default domain policy gpo that is set at your domain. On your dc, right click your domain in active directory computers and users and go to properties. Click on the group policy tab and you should see a gpo named default domain policy, click it and hit edit. In there you will find the instructions laid out in your post, i hope i could help, if not post again | |

| getting closer
I can get to:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\
but don't have:
Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon
is there a way to add it? | |

| thats weird, when an xp enabled machine is added to your domain, those entries should automatically appear in the gpo as they are specific to xp machines. Please verify that the xp client is indeed a memeber of your domain and resides in the computers container. I will try to help tou further when i get home as my work environment doesnt contain any xp clients. However at home, i'm running windows server 2003 dc's with several xp clients. More to follow. | |
