I was ragging on this OS earlier but they appear to be doing some inovative things. Could have picked a better name though.

I don't know i've seen a couple of reviews that have said it is more reliable then windows.

Either way it is a good sign that competition is entering the market and could finally drive down prices.

More reliable than Windows??????? How can that be??????????? Omigosh!!!!!!!!!!! What? Gee Whiz!!!!!!!!!!

Sun Microsystems has said that Windows is already obsolete and that Java is the wave of the present. How do you feel about that statement?

I'd say that Java and Windows are completely diffrent arguements. Java is a programming Language but Microsoft has .NET and that's coming on strong apparently.

Sun is mad because Unix isn't Mainstream and Windows is anti-competative..

Microsoft is going to be obsolete if they don't change the way they do things. Who wants to pay $200 for an OS, when You can download a linux or Unix OS for free or buy highend Version of Linux for less then $200

I have absolutely no knowledge about Unix or Linux. Should I try and learn one or both, if our company uses MS-everything? I guess I'm asking, if we're already Windows-oriented, are we probably going to stay windows-oriented?
And I always wondered about Sun's statement about Windows, because I just couldn't draw a comparison between Java and Windows. (I just put that in there so you wouldn't think I was completely dumb.)

Windows isn't going anywhere. People like them because it's "User-Friendly". Linux is getting closer to being more main stream but it's more for Servers and the such. Unix is definately for servers. I doubt your company will be changing to Unix or Linux although they would probably be good to learn..

I'm in the process of teaching myself Linux so I'd say go for it. It can only make you more valuble.
