I mostly work in NT40 environment but now I have to setup a Active Directory structure with 3 W2000 servers. I downloaded some instructions from MS support but that thing is HUGE!

Can some one give some steps, notes or something. Id rather have some live experience instructions.

Any input will help!

thanks...

Well once you network the new 2000 Servers they can take you through the Active Directory installation. I would recommend buying a Microsoft Press book on this. Exam 70-218 covers AD well and how to implement it. It's hard to explain how to set it up without knowing the name structures you want for the domain, and then forests etc. You'll have to read some to set it up. Once it running you can forget NT4!!

Get the Win2K server resource kit.

PLAN,PLAN,PLAN..cannot stress this enough. Id stick to the more technical docs (Resource kit,Technet) for the deployment. The texts (as previously mentioned) are good for familirization with the technology.

No quick fix for a good deployment (production) of AD.

Thanks, I will check out the docs you suggested. I figured the active directory would be better than nt4 domain structure but I didnt know it was going to be so complex.

Well I guess I will dig in and read up on first.

You really have to think ahead to put a solid AD infrastructure in place. One that will grow and scale with your organization. Otherwise down the line youll screw yourself.
