| If you could get a Dell Inspiron 8200 1.8, 256 meg ram, 30 gig HD, internal modem/nic, dvd/cd burner for 2k (canadian) and could probably sell your old laptop for around $500 would you?
I want to but not sure I can justify it. | |

| Hi supertech, thanks for the input. This would actually be the 2nd name brand pc I've ever thought about purchasing. The other being a Dell server that I love so far. | |

| I wouldn't buy it. That's about the same amount that building a similar PC from scratch would cost. Besides, I can't see paying $500 for a desktop with only 256MB of RAM | |

| It's a laptop. I use my current one quite a bit but it's getting up there in age. I know I can build a desktop for way less than that but I can't take it with me on trips | |

| That's a great deal for a laptop. I'd go for it. | |

| Sounds like a good deal. Since I can't build a laptop, I see no problem with buying one. The name Dell, though, is a little scary to me knowing how they do desktops. | |
|
| I was playing around with a Dell Laptop the other day. I do prefer a certain other brand, but dang that appears to be a decent price and with $500 for your old one I would say BUY | |

| We use Dell laptops here. The Latitude L400 model is not a good one as they had to have all the hard drives replaced. . But the Inspiron is a much better model. I have two Dell Serves in my lab and the are great. I would say go for it. | |

| Thanks for the input guys We use Dell at my job, have over 500 of 'em and I found them to be pretty solid. Just never used the Inspiron's before. Think I might just go for it | |

| Hate to be a slight voice of disagreement, but as a former Dell employee, I would NOT recommended an Inspiron, but a Latitude if you can get one. Functionally the two lines are identical (same parts, same cases, different sticker), except there are greater video RAM options for the Inspiron. Support, however, is completely different. If you buy an Inspiron, you are relegated to home user and small business support, which does not require as much experience on the part of your tech.
However, the price is decent for the equipment. |
