| If you're comfortable editing the registry (but only if you're comfortable with it) try this:
Back up the Registry, then:
Start/Run/regedit
Edit/Find
IsShortcut
(Must be both words together, capital I & S)
Click on Find Next.
When it finds an entry, hit Delete.
Then hit F3 to find the next one.
Rinse & repeat.
Keep going until it can't find any more.
Close regedit.
Then hit F5 to refresh the desktop.
