Upgrading ME to XP.....

| I have forgotten but a friend asked me if he could load XP Pro over the top of Win ME. I thought if you changed the bios to boot from the cd rom, it would go through the initial set up but then declared that it had found another OS and would stop installing. I don't want to get te upgrade cd, is his only option to format and reload!! Cheers. | |

| I think if you rename the WIN.COM file to something else you can install the full version over an existing OS.
By the way, LOVE the avatar, Ive got tons of episodes on tape. | |

| I think that Hooligan is correct. Be sure to get all of the XP drivers ready first, that old Hardware Compatability issue... | |

| Hooligan I'm a member of The Only Fools and Horses Appreciation society. We have yearly conventions, it is like a religon to me. I have met David Jason (Del Boy) Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney) Buster Merryfield (Uncle Albert) Leanard Pearce (Grandad). And most of the cast, Boyce, Trigger etc. I love it. Concerning the win.com file, what shall I rename it to. Whatever I guess. This is the System 32 file, but I guess it won't be in ME. Concerning the drivers it should be okay. It's a PIII machine so it should be okay. | |
