Hi, I'm new to the board and hoping someone can answer my question. I've decided to go for the mcse. I'm studying from home and I have no experience. What are my chances of landing a good job and what can I expect for salary?

Thanks a lot

What is your overall experience with computers? Without any work experience you'll be in the market for entry level either way. If I were you I'd probably go for like an A+/CCNA combo then try to get your foot in the door somewhere, then move on.

Also depends what the IT situation is like where you live. MCSE is a tall order if you have no experience, and if it is flooded with MCSE's like everywhere else ask yourself why should they employ you over a guy with experience. Good Luck.

It all depends on how bad you want it and how hard you are willing to look!! My philosophy which has always worked for me is, "Get me the interview, and I'll get the job" : )....You just got to believe in yourself, that's the first step!... Another thing, when I was involved with mainframe, and I had no experience, everyone told me the same thing, "good luck finding a job", BUT once I was able to land the interview, by calling various employers, etc....I convinced them to go ahead and start me out at a lower salary, and that I'd even work for free for the first 2 weeks..When asked why I would work for free, I told them that "if that's what it would take to convince them that I could do the job, then that's what I would do"... Keep in mind though that there ARE alot of employers where you do need experience. Try volunteering at colleges for helping with lab work, or other places too...that should help...But if you don't believe that you can get a job without experience, you won't....You must believe it's possible first.... Big D
