firstly, i wouldn't bother with direct CD, found it to be a pain in the arse to get working reliably.

Ssecondly if you really want to get direct Cd working, have you gone to the adaptec or roxio website to see if there are any updates for the adaptec software to allow it to recognise your player/burner ?

That is because direct cd is a loadable device driver that makes it look like a hard disk and not a CD. You must stop direct cd, it then releases control of the drive and then you can use it as a burner again. Direct CD is a pain if you want to move that re-writable to another system.

Actually NTI has a better idea, their version will do direct CD compatible or ISO compatible. If you use ISO then no driver is needed to use the cd on another system.

DirectCD and Nero are two different programs by two different companies. DirectCD by Roxio requires Auto-Insert Notification turned ON with most other burning apps like Nero, CDRWin, FireBurner, etc require it turned OFF. Check into that.

Also, go download the latest nero, I think 5.5.10. Your 5.0 serial will work. Nero is king stick with it.
