| Exactly why women shouldn't be allowed in IT. Do your own freaking homework. | |

| I did do my homework but I had trouble with these questions so I needed outside help. I'm sorry that bothers you but you didn't have to be rude about it... | |

The question is asking for the hardware (MAC) address, not the network (TCP/IP) address.

Oh boy, you have no idea what you're in for. First off, I've worked with as many women who knew their stuff, as I have men. I've also worked with as many men who didn't know their stuff as I have women.
Your statement is almost like saying women belong in the kitchen. I sincerely hope you were just kidding....
While I agree that people should do their own homework...I don't agree with your statement about women and IT...and I do believe that if people are having problems with their studies, as a community we should bond together to help them - not scare them away.

When I run winipcfg /all, I also get the hardware address of the network adapter too.

Actually the question is asking how you would find the MAC for a local workstation, and using IPCONFIG is the best way to do that. You would use ARP to find the MAC address of a remote workstation. Besides, IPCONFIG will always work in NT, where ARP only works if you have an address translation table.

but in the original question no
mention of the argument /ALL was
stated. | |

Of the four options only two produce information just by typing the command as per the question.
winipcfg and Ipconfig
winipcfg does not work in NT
ipconfig does not give you the MAC address
the other two options need more input after the command
therefore you will need to add an option after the command, and the only one that will give you the MAC address of your NIC in NT is IPCONFIG /ALL |
