I remember when I bought my NES system in 1988.It was the first time I save money up for something and bought it with my own money. I save up my money from my paper route back when paper boys could deliever the Boston Globe.

Zelda (SNES) was a good game as well. I remember a friend of mine and myself played for hours conquering it. We conquered it too for the most part, all except the last room (where you had to push a block to get past a chain guy, we could not figure that out!) right before the BIG room. We had to buy the guide book to get past that.

I was born in '67 and so I definitely had the Atari. That's what I saved my paper route money for.

Slowly raising hand while no one is watching. Played it on a Burroughs 6800 large scale mainframe along with Zork. Honed my fortran skills on the Zork source code. Then I played them on a Osborne 1 and I think I had a copy of Oregon for a Sinclair.

1. Some driving game I played in Silloth Beach Amusement Arcade circa 1981.

erm... that's it.

Interestingly though Silloth didn't have beach, at least not a sand one. It was artificially constructed of concrete steps and was distinctly dangerous looking and unattractive. Sorry to digress.

SuperNintendo... geesh... we just loaned that one and all its games to a brother-in-law that just had hip replacement surgery. Lemme think... what was my favorite game on that??? Donkey Kong and Paperboy were my favorites on that console.

Now... I was blessed to receive an X-Box for my last birthday http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/otn/party/hb2.gif I must say so far the favorite game on that has been Sims. The Simpson's Road Rage is also way fun. We'll see what others we discover after the holidays

Gosh, there were so many listed I was reminded of all the games I *have* played! Actually had an Atari 2600 at home (parents got it for my brother and I after *much* convincing we'd play after seeing us spend *hours* playing the Atari consoles at friends' houses), have no idea where it is now. Can't remember the name of the game played the most on that one...involved riding a horse around and lassoing various cows/steer...anyone remember the name of that one?!? http://smilies.crowd9.com/cwm/3dlil/eek13.gif

Yes, I remember Oregon Trail...that was a fun one. I also remember playing the earliest version of Pong at the pizza place in town...anyone else? http://mindscraps.com/s/otn/angels/azzangel.gif

All-time favorites would include:

1) Galaga (inspired by Duran Duran on that one)
2) Joust
3) Q Bert
4) Spy Hunter
5) Soul Calibur (ok...not so old ;-) )

What got me to thinking about all this was the other day I went to Ci Ci's pizza and they had the old Ral Den II game there. I use to be good at the game. Anyway, I played it just to see if the touch was still there and low and behold I did pretty good. Not as good as use to be but bet ya with some practice I would be right back there.
Really brought back a lot of memories.

How can you play console games? I hate those things. Usally console games don't require any thinking or strategy making. When they do make a game that actually requires thought on a console it is usally to hard to work with. The only cool games that ever existed for the console were the old ones like:

Pirates on the Sega(I remember when I had that sega online thing where they updated the games every month I would always look for this game first)

PTO(pacific theater operations) for SNES

Romance of three Kingdoms(sega)

Never see any cool games like that anymore for consoles. I mean it might be fun to run around a blow peoples heads off every once in awhile but that gets boring fast.

Let's pretend for a moment that they do go to the title game - which in and out of itself is already quite the stretch of the imagination...

Patriots? SuperBowl

A lucky year if you ask me

Maybe because they are in such a whimpy division! The NFC is where the real competition is!

A lucky year? You have to be kidding me. We have started 42 different players, and have lost 12 starters to injuries. Some lucky year.

Wimpy division? Ask anyone who knows anything about football and they will tell you that the AFC East is the toughest conference in football.

Looks to me like you need to go back to football 101. As for the amount of SBs won, it matters not to me. Live in the past. My team is playing now, and they are playing hard and well. Period.

Gee wiz, now who did the Packers beat in Superbowl XXXI, hmmm.....I bet FREAK knows!

AFC EAST:

Miami was in 5 Superbowls and won 2
Buffalo was in 4 Superbowls and lost 4 (all 4 in a row, mind you)
N.Y. Jets was in 1 superbowl and won 1
Patriots was in 3 Superbowls and won 1

So, this means that the AFC EAST wins a superbowl 33% of the time
Or, AFC EAST wins a Superbowl only 9.5% Total!
Tough? More like tough Luck!

I graduated from Football 101 when you were still sucking on Vince Lombardi's tit!

NFC NORTH:

Green Bay was in 4 Superbowls and won 3
Minnesota was in 4 Superbowls and lost 4
Chicago was in 1 Superbowl and won 1
(Guess who they beat, FREAK!)
Detroit was in 0 Superbowls and won 0
NFC NORTH wins a Superbowl 44% of the time
NFC NORTH wins a Superbowl only 9.5% Total!

Actually NFC NORTH & AFC EAST are pretty equal. Can't we just agree to disagree?

Freak, you are right on. The AFC is much stronger than the NFC this year. Besides Philly, Seattle, Dallas & Carolina, everyone else is weak. Minnesota sux, Green Bay is up & down, and the Rams are incredibly shitty... they barely beat Chicago & Arizona, and at 9-3, I think they've beat 3 teams @ .500 or better. And if the Ravens wouldn't have started so bad, they would have killed the Rams. Anyway, enough about the Rams, oh yeah the 49ers killed them 30-10 in their last meeting!

I'd say either Philly or Dallas Vs Pats or Colts in the Super Bowl.

again, you are living in the past. As it stands today, the four best teams in the NFL are in the AFC: Pats, Titans, Colts and Chiefs. Period.

And as it stands today, the AFC East is a much harder conference than any NFC conference. That's just a fact. If the teams in the AFC East didn't meet twice a year and beat on each other, but were isntead in separate conferences, you would see several of them - 3 realistically - winning their conference.

The Pats are 6-0 against teams that are .500 or over. How about the Pack? Yup, didn't think so...

You gotta love the way they beat Denver. That was quite a last drive to win the game. And who would of thought they could stop an extremely hot Colts offense 4 times inside the 10! That win really solidified New England as the #1 team in my book so far this season.

Inside the 10? to be more specific on the 1 yard line.

2003-12-05, 4:53 pm

... and to answer the question, *I* did think that they could stop the Colts cold 4 times in a row at the 1. Not because I am a cocky fan of the team - although there is that - but more to the point because this defense - and to a degree, this whole team - has shown the resilience and the nack to win many times. I never say die with this team. I always believe that they can win any game against any team - and at 10-2, it's hard to argue with that statement

You are still missing my point.

Today, this playoff race is relevant. Anything that may have happened 10 years or 5 years before is not, however, relevant.

in 10 years, the playoff race that will take place then will be relevant, but the one that is happening now will not be.

Clearer?

No, becasue I think it is relevant (then and now), BUT we'll move on...

LOL

I agree that both are relevant. My point is that they are not relevant in correlation with each other...

Very true! And another big shutout against Miami this week! #1 without a doubt!

I never say die with this team. I always believe that they can win any game against any team - and at 10-2, it's hard to argue with that statement

True, but you'd have to admit the way the Colts stormed back that you were at least a "wee bit" nervous!

But I agree 100%, the Pats are definitely the #1 team so far this season. They are the team to beat.

Nope, not a shred of nervousness. Instead, I was amped up and excited as heck - note to enforcer and co.: no need for a joke here - and was just waiting to see how they were gonna win this one. That's the beauty of this team, and that's what I love the most about them.

The upcoming game against the Jags is a typical trap game, just as Houstong was. But it should still be fun

That should be a good game. The Jags have been playing well lately. But they may run into a roadblock when they meet New England's defense.

Agreed! Some very strange happenings in the league this year. Although I'd have to admit "Me-Shaun" getting released was probably the funniest!

I am trying to make my life better. Constantly. Like are most other poor people. You implied that all who received any kind of assistance were lazy bums (omitting yourself of course) and that is what I take issue with.

As for hijacking threads, I plead guilty, for Enforcer has trained me well.

Talking about video games. Remeber Spider Man for the Atari? Well I stmbled upoun the box for that game today. I'd say that was one of my favoirtes. It was released by Parker Brothers.

Speaking of Atari, have you seen that new game out for the PC by Activision? It's called "Anthology" Remix Edition and features 75 favorites from the Atari 2600, all for only $20. 75 games for $20, I can remember when each of those games cost $20 or more.

I'll have to say that

Splinter Cell on XBOX is the best game I've played.

The Metal Gear series is pretty good as well. Played the first one on Nintendo.

The Madden football series is also really good.

Super Mario Bros.

And Metroid.

There was another game, which I can't remember, where the whole point is to get sme guy laid. It was a funny one, but I don't think he actually gets laid in the end.

Nethack is a text based dungeon-type adventure game. Ultima is a sort of adventure game similar to the Legend of Zelda, but much, much longer. Metroid is an older Nintendo game, bascially a space cowboy that goes around shooting aliens and battling an enemy brain. I thought it was fun, but haven't played it in ages.

4. Moon Raider
5. Advenutre of Link

I was really into ATARI and DOS games. Nintendo came about when I was already an adult. Never could make any headway in Nethack.
