Last year I register a domain name from http://www.godaddy.com I only chose and paid one-year service. The entire invoice, confirm sheet every document showed that. But this year I found my MasterCard was charged again by this company, the reason is if you login your "manage domains" with you ID and PS in http://www.godaddy.com, there is a very small icon between so many icons shows " Auto-Renew" That means this function will automatically charge your Credit card in next year! And the most ridiculous and shameless thing is: this function is "The auto renew settings are set to on by default unless you specify manual renew when you register the domain." That is a very beautiful trick!

Why this company think it has that right to make this decision (auto renew) for it customers? I am just wondering to know why this company does not set it as "off" by default?

What do you guys think about it?

It's something microsoft could have done with for their hotmail domain name.

It's a good way of protecting your domain, I think most customers would prefer it to be automatic so their don't forget to renew and then lose their domain name.

I sure in the emails or documentation that you got as a welcome pack it was mentioned. probably very small writing though.
