You and your grandparents probably have a much cushier life than I do. That is the main reason people go to America. Your parents may have been freed from unbearable tyranny, but probably at the expense of others' freedoms. Remember your country bravely fought the Nazis while keeping your own blacks in conditions approximately the same as Germany's Jews.
Would the world be better off with two superpowers? I would say yes. At least that way there is a check to one country pushing all its ideas and culture onto others and taking advantage of all of the weak, and forcing all those who disagree to cow under the juggernaur of American power.
Pacifism is not tenable, but not being a pacifist does not mean running roughshod of whoever stands in the way of your oil, economic gains or private obsessions. You have nuclear weapons but object to India's having them. And bombing Cambodian civilians in a far cry from defense of those who attack you.

Why not? I can bring race into any discussion if I want to. It just happens to be obvious to some of your darker-skinned bretheren that the countries you decide are good are rarely those which are truly just but which tend to have lighter skins and have non-western cultural values. Any time someone like me brings up any inconsistency in your political stances, you change the subject and rather than directly answering the question, which would almost certainly put you in an unfavourable light, you mention something else unrelated to it. It would be nice to hear you shoot straight for a change. For example: "We are attacking Iraq because we have the power to do so, because they are no danger whatsoever to us, and because it is economically advantageous to do so and we will continue doing this because we believe all Iraqis are trash and don't deserve being considered as normal human beings. Does it help your argument to place millions of people in the same box? Part of the Iraqi people want us to be there and part do not. Since good news is no news, we only see the part that do not want us there. After all they were the elite bath party.
Well judge by deeds then. In every war once the U.S. has had the advantage we have just said lay down your weapons and go back to your families. Only the leaders were held responsible. There were no mass exterminaions of anyone in a uniform or anyone carrying a weapon. For example the majority of the Iraqi army is back with their family trying to put their lives back together. The majority of those solders no longer consider us the enemy. For many life has become better.
History has taught me that when the shoe is on the other foot, other countries are not as forgiving. The republican guard for example apparently is paying us back for letting them go by finding donkey carts to carry missles on.

Qadaffi got the hint last time and has kept his mouth shut and left his neighbors alone. Use your common sense. If your people were being bombed by a foreign power, would you honestly be glad to see them, especially after they supported the dictator that they suffered under for so long and then who were the primary force in basically starving them with sanctions?
As for as that "life has become better" statement, I hear more Americans saying that than anyone else. And that is to be expected . . . war cannot succeed without good propaganda. And I am afraid that the US has never said just "go back to your families" . . . the US demands total perpetual loyalty . . . as in the case of Japan, which is essentially a US colony. The US does what it wants, usually with the help of its "friends".
The republican guard has most likely gotten a lot of new recruits by people who previously hated them since you have invaded their country. They know quite well after they lose their lands to you, they will become dependent on you for everything and all that is now theirs will be yours.

That is exactly the type of attitude that I am talking about . . . you get angered at the very idea of your country being so attacked . . . but find it strange when others react the same way when you attack them!
