| Hi, everyone. I really need some advice. I am 25 years old and I have a B.B.A. in Management of Information Systems. I also have taking computer science courses and I have my A+ Certification. I only have two years of I.T. work experience. I can NOT find a job. Not even a low end entry level job. I spent six years in college and its not paying off. I am soooo discouraged. My question is, will it ever really payoff in this field? Should i go back to school for nursing or something else? Im so ready to get a job and be independent but i cant~!!!!!! I made good grades in undergrad so i can still go to graduate school for computer science. I also thought about real estate. My goals in life are to have a family, money, and a lot of knowledge and education. I dont have any of those yet lol. So what should i do?????? My grades are good ENOUGH for medical school and probably not good enough for pharmacy school. So im stuck with nursing or staying in I.T. what would you all do?????????
p.s. I have been unemployed for seven months!!!!!!!! | |

| Why did you leave your IT job if you have two years of work experience in IT??
I have 4 relatives that are nurses. If you want to wipe dirty butts and clean up puke off the floor for the rest of your life, go for it!
If someone else can support you for the next 6 years, you can go to med school.
Point being- there is no quick or magic road to wealth. Look harder and be willing to accept any job right now. The IT field is flooded right now, but it will pick up in about a year.
When I first got into IT years ago, I was a Business Analyst. I transferred into an IT job. You can always try that route. | |

| first, a few points-
1. stop posting the same thread over and over. You've posted this 4 or 5 times.
2. from the responses you already got, you feel like it's beneath you to accept a PC Tech job right now. If that's your attitude... yes, you need to flush the 6 years of schooling down the toilet and find another career.
Now back to my response, you better ask a nurse before you make that decision. There's a REASON why there's a nursing shortage... THE JOB SUCKS.
I have 4 relatives that are nurses. No kidding- they wipe dirty butts, clean up puke, give old/ fat/ stinky/ you name it people baths, witness the most grotesque sites on the face of the earth, witness death and dying, deal with crying families... and the list goes on.
Nurses make good money because they deserve it. But my 4 relatives HATE their job for the reasons above.
Just something to think about if all you care about is a big paycheck. | |

| hey heres a great site for you to visitits called carrer builder.com it has great jobs i was looking at it today and there were jobs that paid 45.00 to 60.00 dollars an hour full time and to answer your question stick with computers
i mean i'm in class right now studying to be able to repair them the way i think is no matter how advanced technology there will always have to be somebody to come and fix them so stick it out there is light at the end of the tunnel | |

Yeah, but Psugak, a friend of mine finished `college with a CIS `degree and worked at pizza hut for a year before finally landing a job he felt was acceptable. Theres plenty of stuff out there, you just have to be willing to put your ego aside for a bit. Settle for a $6/hr tech job (hopefully it'll be closer to $10/hr) to get a little paid experience on the resume if you have to...or even fast food just to get a little green.
I was out of a job for 10 months because I wouldn't settle...I should have just worked fast food while jobhunting but oh well. I'm only still paying off the debt I racked up during my period of unemployment...

It just sucks because my friends are all out there making good money and they have a computer science degree and the others have nursing or medical degrees. I dont know. I might do nursing(which is only two years) and if i dont like that, hell..i can always go back to I.T. Manchild, ur just jealous cause papiya and i are dating now. U got no game son. | |
