| Hi, everyone. I really need some advice. I am 25 years old and I have a B.B.A. in Management of Information Systems. I also have taking computer science courses and I have my A+ Certification. I only have two years of I.T. work experience. I can NOT find a job. Not even a low end entry level job. I spent six years in college and its not paying off. I am soooo discouraged. My question is, will it ever really payoff in this field? Should i go back to school for nursing or something else? Im so ready to get a job and be independent but i cant~!!!!!! I made good grades in undergrad so i can still go to graduate school for computer science. I also thought about real estate. My goals in life are to have a family, money, and a lot of knowledge and education. I dont have any of those yet lol. So what should i do?????? My grades are good ENOUGH for medical school and probably not good enough for pharmacy school. So im stuck with nursing or staying in I.T. what would you all do?????????
p.s. I have been unemployed for seven months!!!!!!!!

| Hello,
get out of IT while you're young enough to do something else!
Up to a couple of years ago IT was seen as a great job with loads of money so everyone and their dog jumped into it. Before then you could leave a job in the morning and get another one by the end of the day.
It's not like that anymore and it /never/ will be again. There's too many people chasing too few jobs.
There'll always be jobs for nurses. Like there'll always be jobs for plumbers, electricians, etc. Have you thought about moving overseas for a job?
Real Estate sounds good but I have no idea how you'd start with that in the US. In the UK, if I had any spare cash I'd be buying up property in a slightly run-down condition, restoring it and selling it on...but it may be a different situation in the US.
If you haven't found even an entry level job in seven months then I'm sorry to say that nature is trying to tell you something and you really need to listen!
Good Luck

| Perhaps you should try to work out why you can't get a job. If for example you have a poor interview technique then moving into another field probably won't help you. Here's a couple of ideas to help anyway:
Have you tried contacting the companies that rejected you to find out why?
Feedback from recruitment agencies.
Are you applying for the right jobs?
Is it geographical? Have you considered moving?
Is it that you simply have a poor CV? Get someone to look at it for you.
Do you know anyone in an HR role who could give you a mock interview?
Personality tests. Perhaps these are throwing up something negative?
Read some books on interview techniques.
Take a look at your physical appearance. Are you creating the right impression?
Better still get someone else to look at some or all of these things with you.

| hey, I have social anxiety disorder so yea, the interviews are hard for me but out of seven months, ive only had five interviews!!!! so it cant really be the interviews. Some of it is geographical but I believe there are just too many people applying for too little jobs. Not only that, but it seems like the only jobs that people call me back for is PC TECH work. I didnt go to school for five years to be a PC TECH!!!!! Its just really lame, really lame | |

| Perhaps you could find an it job on the internet i know that i am going to start a small buisness as soon as i get the money if you like. If you have to send out small banners saying that you are gong to repair computers for cheaper thatn other competitor prices that worked for me for a while till i went back for more schooling | |

If it gets you in the door of a company, and I.T is something you really wanna do then the answer is YES, you do want to be a PC tech.
Don't have illusions of being a network admin without having the exp.
Sorry fact of life. IF they offer you three months trial - take it. If they offer you one week - take it.
Good luck, you'll find something
