Then how will you get your certifications?

stay low, keep quiet, or else I would have to agree with ruscorp's immature *i know something you don't know* musing...

WHO CARES?

They have to get funding somehow. Besides that I say bring on more brain dump people. All it does is populate the workforce with many more underqualified people and that is good for me. Makes me look good. BTW I have not yet met a person in the technoloy field who was inexperienced, but their job as a result of breezing through certifications.

Let me clarify something here. A large number of the cheat sheet sites that advertise on examnotes.net are selling illegally obtained exam content, not so-called braindumps.

Why does this matter? Because years of effort and millions of dollars have gone into developing those very exams which you and I take to get certified. These exams are valuable intellectual property, not public domain. Your certification only remains valid as long as there is some level of confidence that people awarded that certification actually possess the competencies the tests are intended to measure.

Petty criminals steal this intellectual property from the test publishers (or from each other) and then sell it over the internet for a few bucks a test. Multitudes of individuals are now being certified because they saw the actual test questions ahead of time, not because they actually know anything about IT. Before long, none of your certifications will be worth anything.

A quick whois search will show you that most of these web sites are registered offshore, because what they are doing is ILLEGAL in the US. These folks then use some of their revenue to fund advertisements on this site and other certification portals. So in effect anyone using these forums is directly benefiting from the proceeds of crime.

Of course you can justify anything if you want to.

The unfortunate side is this site has about the most active general certification boards on the internet.

what did the vote I just cast mean?
(as if it made one iota of difference)

BTW it's "poll" not "pole." normally I don't jump on spelling mistakes but every time somebody makes a pole, (I mean poll) it pops up again.

It's up to the tech companies to change the format of the exams to prevent cheating e.g. everyone sits any given exam on say 1st of the month then it is completely changed for the following month, as someone here suggested before. Basically make them the same as college exams.

As for braindumpers they almost always get found out in interviews these days anyway.

Is a yes for say Yes this site should not contain BD ads? or Yes we should?

Yeah, I don't even know how to vote. The question and poll doesn't make sense. But I do not feel that any site containing actual test questions should be advertised on this site.

It comes down to money though, hard to tell someone they ought to make less money in order to be ethical. Oh well, I learn a lot here, I just don't click the ad's.

I didn't vote either. I wouldn't have them on my site, but like you said - can't tell someone else not to have them.

I didn't vote either.

The way I figure is that its none of my business who advertises on this site and how this site makes it money. To run a site this large would require money, and who are any of us to decide the financial fate of the webmaster? He could always decide to take the braindump ads out, and start charging for membership - would you like that better????

Additionally, everybody is responsible for their own actions. If you click on a link to one of those of sites, that's your own bloody fault. I don't even notice the advertisements any more, because I dont' pay attention.
