Does anyone know where I can get the complete setup file for IE6 SP1? All I can find is that stupid half meg installer package. If someone could help me out that would be sweet.

I don't think they have the whole file for download, unless you can find an ftp mirror for MS.

If you download the installer and then that will download the app. Can't you grab that app out of your temp directory?

that dosn't work with IE service packs, just the main OS ones.

I think IE upgrades selectively download components you have installed within IE.

See if any magazine's have cover CD's with it on.

the main reason why I thought that it could downloaded from somewhere was because you can order the CD from MS but you have to pay like 7 dollars shipping. I dont need it that bad, I just thought it would be nice to have on days when the firewall is being worked on and there is no internet access.

You should be able to pick up an MSN 8 CD for free. The MSN 8 CD has the full IE 6 SP1 package included on the CD.

Find a computer running Windows 98 or NT, then download the IE6 SP1 installer on that one. Start the installation process and select minimal or customized install. You'll be presented with the options of what you want and there will be an Advanced button on the lower right. Click that. You will be presented with another list of choices, one of them being downloading the full package for a later install. Select that and click OK. The options will gray out as it selects all them. Click the Next button. You'll be presented with a list of OSes you would like to have this download for. Select the ones you want, each time you select one, the amount to download will increase. Browse to the folder you want to save these files to and click Next. The IE installer will churn a bit and begin the download process. Give that a try. Keep in mind the system you are downloading this to must NOT be running it already and it must be either W9x or NT.
